Napolitano sends message to GOP in Boone County

Boone County Republicans hope choosing noted libertarian and Fox News pundit Andrew Napolitano to speak at their annual Christmas gala Thursday night sent a message.

That message is one of limited government and for elected officials to hold principles over politics, said Rick Brueggemann, Boone County GOP chairman.

“You can call it libertarian, but it is the true view of limited government,” Brueggeman said. “That natural law provides certain rights that government is not free to take away. I’m hoping choosing him sends a message to the whole state that principles are what matter.”

Napolitano, a former New Jersey Superior Court judge, spent a good portion of his talk dissecting the Founding Fathers and Constitution. In a polemic against government run amok, Napolitano recounted historic invasion of people’s rights at the nation’s founding and drew parallels to modern day.

He praised Northern Kentucky Republican leadership including Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky, who represents Kentucky’s Fourth Congressional District

“I dream of a day when Tom Massie is in leadership,” Napolitano said.

Additional info: The Boone County GOP sold out the event - 650 seats. The considerable proceeds go to benefit the county party, which was swept by Ron Paul and liberty people in 2012. So they will not be underfunded. I venture to say the state party must be green with envy. :D

And Matt Bevin won the straw poll 356 to 58.
