Deregulation ruined the airlines and trucking industries.
And made fortunes for a few of the usual suspects who had complete contempt for the people in these industries.
What are some regulations of airlines and trucking that were removed or loosened that you think shouldn't have been?
Go look at the framework of the old CAB structure.
It is a recipe for success and reliability for the participating airlines.
It even required airlines to prove that they would be profitable over a given route to be given approval.
They also mandated spare aircraft to cover disruptions.
Yes, this form of regulation is cryptonite to the free market libertarians, but it is the best way to have a responsible, safety sensitive, and reliable transportation system.
The first comment you wrote is idiotic, however the second comment needs more explanation. Specifically, he only deregulated it some. It's a much more free market now, but it is still too heavily regulated. He should have gone a lot further because the unfortunately reality is that only half-assing it allowed for regulatory capture and oligopoly / cartel.Deregulation ruined the airlines and trucking industries.

This is one of the dumbest things I have ever read on here, and that says something.Go look at the framework of the old CAB structure.

First off the federal government has no jurisdiction regulating air travel per the Constitution (unless maybe in relation to border crossings). Secondly, safety has improved with air travel over time. And with deregulation prices dropped.
https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/tu-quoqueSome day, you might actually understand just how much you don't understand about your industry.
Until then, keep being you.
The US government's empire needed to be taken down a notch.Because Carter explicitly said he wanted to weaken America on behalf of the Communists "for peace".
Better red than dead etc.
