A prominent New Hampshire Republican said Thursday evening that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) is planning a trip to the Granite State as he mulls a 2016 presidential run.
Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas told the New Hampshire Journal that Bush called him on Thursday afternoon to talk about a trip to the city. Gatsas also tweeted about the call.
The mayor said that he offered to show the Florida Republican a program that promotes science and math in New Hampshire schools. Bush has made education one of his signature issues.
Otherwise, details of a Bush trip to New Hampshire remained scarce on Friday.
Other possible contenders for the GOP nomination in 2016 have been making pilgrimages to the state in recent months.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) visited the state this week for a series of events. He met with Gatsas in the mayor's city hall office. Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry has also planned a trip to the state in February.
