‘Je Suis Turkey’

Interesting but controversial article:

However, “Je suis Turkey.”
Turkey has experienced six bomb blasts since last June that have killed and injured vastly more than the Charlie Hebdo attack. On October 10, 2015, two bombs were detonated near Ankara’s central train station, killing 103 civilians and injuring over 400. On February 17, 2016, 30 people were killed and 60 injured in a bombing in a tranquil neighborhood in central Ankara. On March 13, 2016 a bombing took place in the same neighborhood, with 37 people killed and 125 injured. Today at least five were killed by a suicide bomber in Istanbul.
None of the Turkish victims had done anything to provoke the extremists. Destina Peri Parlak was a 16-year-old high school student who dreamed of becoming a doctor. Ozancan Akkuş was a 21-year-old university student in electrical engineering. Mehmet Emre Çakar, age 16, had recently moved to Ankara to receive treatment for liver disease. Kemal Balut was the father of Turkish soccer star, Umut Bulut.

Turkey is a country with a majority Muslim country. Nobody in the west cares when Muslims kill each other. But with the of number anti-Erogden articles starting to pop up on the MSM, I would guess that Turkey is the next Muslim country to have a good old fashion western military coup.

Yeah, I see this kind of horseshit peddled from leftists all the time. "Why do we care about the terrorist attacks in this country and not that one? Blabla wahwah."

It makes perfect sense that Westerners care more about the attacks in France or Belgium as opposed to Turkey; we are more similar to those countries than to any Muslim nation. Ethnically, racially, religiously and culturally. People who complain about the lack of concern or caring about [problem X happening to out-group Y] are almost always progressive morons, and people who claim to "love humanity" are almost always heartless bastards and scourges on civilization; the West in particular, considering very few outside of Western culture claim this. There is doubtlessly many important problems happening around the world that this Kelly James douche does not care about, but talking about those wouldn't allow him to virtue signal like in this godawful screed.

Old Derb puts it far better than this unlettered proglodyte ever could:

If what you are saying is true, how come there was more solidarity and outrage of the kidnapping of the Nigerian girls in the west than the bombing of the Russian plane by ISIS? These popular memorials are engineered by the media and politicians who use these popular public mourning to further their evil foreign policies. If they cannot use said tragedy, then there is no need making a big deal out of it.

Simple:

"Bring back our girls". Note the final word.
Michelle Obama (and others) pushed the Nigerian kidnapping.
Russia has not only never been part of Western Civilization, they've been seen as the great enemy of the US since the mid-20th Century.

Americans feel no camaraderie with Nigerians or Russians, nor should they. The outpouring of emotion for France and Belgium wasn't because of the media, it was because of the close cultural ties Western nations have with one another. "Bring back our girls" was a media creation, but not a bad one. Just horrifically ineffective slacktivism. It would be comical if the situation wasn't so awful.

I disagree with you, I have people on my facebook who put the French flag water print over their pictures who wouldn't have done anything if someone in the media didn't tell them to do so. These outrages are not genuine, they are engineered by public relationship groups who are trying to manipulate public policy.

The point of the "bring back our girls campaign is that it sorta worked. I work in the midwest here and you cannot believe how many white middle people that I run into that always ask me for updates about the girls and yet almost none of them knew about the Russia crash or almost forgot about it after it was reported on the news for 5s. And yet, American Europeans have more in common with Russians than Nigerians

Who told them to do it? Who in the media said "change your profile pic to the French flag"? If there was a media figure saying that, did it originate with them, or were they just catching on to a trend?

Even if that particular gesture was something created by the media, the idea that the attacks in France would be just as unknown as the Russian situation under any circumstances is absurd. An ally country had two terrorist attacks in less than a year, one the most deadly in the West since 9/11. People aren't going to be ignorant about that.

Russia is an enemy, Russia is the outgroup. That's the point.

Russia is not, and has never been part of the West, and they're considered an enemy. Have been for over half a century, albeit under different circumstances over the decades. Slavs are a unique phenotype and Russia culturally has nothing to do with the US at all. They are more similar to us than Nigerians, but the Nigerian situation was pushed by Michelle Obama and the like. Lets not forget that it happened to women, and all societies view women as more valuable than men, and the President has African ancestry.

Facebook Asks Users to Support France With Profile Picture Filter

Social media is full of support for France following a series of attacks that killed more than 100 people, for which ISIS has claimed responsibility.

One of the many ways people are standing with the country is with Facebook’s new filter, which overlays an opaque French flag over your profile picture.

How to change your Facebook photo to blue, white, and red for Paris

Since Paris was attacked on Friday night, an outpouring of grief and mourning has taken over social media.

Now, people are filtering their Facebook photos with an overlay of blue, white, and red — the colors of the French flag.

It's similar to Facebook's Celebrate Pride filter, a rainbow overlay that was created for Pride month but became even more ubiquitous when the Supreme Court's decision on gay marriage was handed down.

We are competing with China for African resources, be a little difficult to establish a military presence in Russia...currently.

Let me know when the "left" media address the fact that Erdogan's family & Turkey has been using ISIS for oil smuggling.

HOODWINKED.

Is that because West is Christian majority civilization?

If so, why West sacrificed lives/limbs of over 100,000 of its christian soldiers to liberate muslims of Iraq from other muslims?

Another counter argument to above premise would be that West would not care if white atheists were killed in UK/Australia/Belgium or if jews were killed in Israel, but that is not the case.

This religion based premise does not seem to hold up, race based factors may make a bit stronger argument but even that does not explain the attitudes in our media.

I don't know why the media does what it does but there is a "perception" that Muslims have been killing each other for thousands of years. Because of this perception, the attitude when a terrorist attack occurs in their country, nobody in the West really cares. Since they have been doing it for thousands of years and all. It's what they do. It's like we have high school football in America. Those folks in the Middle East bomb each other. No big deal.

Since muslims have also been killing non-muslims for thousands of years (most recent genocide of Russians by muslim Jihadeens in Afghanistan from 1970-80s), "Je suis charlie" and "Je suis Turkey" would both carry little significance in the West following such "perceptions" argument?

Let's say 10 Palestinian Christians were killed in West Bank next week, what do you think are the chances that "Je Suis Palestinian" slogan will appear in the Western media considering "Western perceptions" as you cited?

It seems more about race than religion to the trained eye.
