IT'S A YOUTUBE WAR!!!, CISPA Purge

Is that what happened to the Ron Paul 2008 site?

There are others, one was even liberty oriented but I sure can't remember its name....

It's more like SOPA, right?

CISPA isnt censorship. It's reporting, databasing, and tracking, I believe.

There really isn't much of an alternative to youtube...

Actually there is.

Upload whatever content to multiple video streaming websites. Then if a video gets taken down on one site it can still be viewed on another. TubeMogul lets you upload content to multiple video sites at once. What's needed from a technical perspective is a "mirror" website that will check those sites, and if the video is taken down from the primary site, "serve" the video from one of the other sites. That would break the back of the YouTube monopoly.

Doesn't Youtube have an audience of all the others combined times two?

Excepting porn site, I mean.

And it will continue to if you support a monopoly that doesn't support your right to free speech, fair use and due process.

I'm seriously contemplating a google purge for the principle, but they're hell bent on controlling the internet and invading privacy no matter where you go.

Ok.We got consensus. We post only on porn sites from now on.

I allready posted this on coffeewithchessss (s?) thread:

Why dont we start reporting their youtube, twitter, facebook etc accounts(Mit, CNN, FOX)?

Time to redirect the 99% crowds to their offices...at least let them do something useful in their milling about, and demand a way for users to be heard.

So what? I'm not saying don't have videos on YouTube. I'm saying post videos on multiple sites. It's no extra cost as all of these sites will let you host for free. The software I referenced will let you host on multiple sites simultaneously, so there really is no extra time cost either. If people consistently post videos on non-YouTube websites, those other sites will become more popular. And regardless of the "popularity" issue, if you have your video hosted on multiple sites, when one gets taken down you have a backup. Plus some school/library networks block YouTube (my son's school does) so having your info on multiple sites means better your content has a better chance not to be blocked by internet filtering. Really there's so many reasons to host on sites other than just YouTube that the only legitimate question is why won't people think this through and stop hosting only on YouTube?

And it will continue to if you support a monopoly that doesn't support your right to free speech, fair use and due process.

Exactly! Following the "YouTube is the most popular so I will only use YouTube" idea is a self-fulfilling, self-defeating prophecy.

Did that work???????

So, another issue with none YouTube players...embedding is going to have to be learned a new way.

Hmmm....I've seen non YouTube videos embedded at RPF before. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
