Tonight’s debate gives Johnson a chance to start over with his strongest argument — that he’s a Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) with results.

Like Paul, Johnson is a libertarian-leaning critic of foreign intervention, U.S. drug policy and government regulation. Unlike Paul, Johnson says that he implemented his ideas as head of a state and saw them work. He consistently cut taxes as governor; the Club for Growth calls him “one of the most anti-spending governors in New Mexico history.”

The really great thing about Gary Johnson is thanks to him, you have a really great example of libertarian policies being enacted at an executive level, and working out really well.

Results matter, but anyone can veto. I'm sure Ron would have vetoed 10x bills if he was governor.

The thing is, Ron has forgotten more about Austrian economics than Johnson knows. It's gonna take an expert on Austrian economics to get the country out of this mess. As much as they want it to happen, Johnson will not chip away at Ron's numbers.

Also, babies kiss Ron..

Don't let the media do this to us. Gary is a friend not an enemy.

If he is still in the race after the Iowa caucuses, we can get upset at him, but right now he has been a total gentleman towards us and our guy.

Yeah. At least now it seems Gary is showing a measure of respect to Ron that some of his supporters have not done in the past.

This helps show that Ron Paul is not on an island. It's a good thing IMO.

On first impressions I thought the exact same thing..

Johnson is a good guy. He proved it last night. My initial feeling about him was correct. He will be challenging Rand for the office. This is his '08.

Gary has always shown respect for Ron.

You must of missed yet another LewRockwell article last night tossing digs at Johnson. It's really Paul's man Rockwell who hasn't shown any respect to fellow liberty candidate. Rockwell has been doing this since Johnson announced (which was when Ron was still not sure if he had the fire in his belly to run and was still weeks away from announcing).
