"Boone" Straw Poll to be held August 8, 2015 at the Central Iowa Expo about 20 miles west of Ames.

Wonder if any other aspects of it are being changed?

Iowa GOP moves straw poll to Boone

"...The final vote to hold the event in Boone was unanimous among State Central Committee members, an Iowa GOP spokesman confirmed. The party touted Boone’s easy access from all points in the state — no more than three hours from the edges of Iowa. They also described it as a more affordable location to hold the event, ensuring maximum participation.

The poll, a staple of Republican presidential politics in the Hawkeye State since 1979, has traditionally been held at Iowa State University, in Ames, the August before the Iowa caucuses. But after tensions over prices charged by the school in 2011, the state GOP this year began a bidding process to determine the best host..."

'...“As a former resident of Boone, I couldn’t be happier with the Central Committee’s selection,” Branstad said in a statement from the state party. “Making this event more accessible to every Iowan is an important step in keeping the straw poll a must-attend date on the presidential election calendar.”'

Why Boone for the Iowa Straw Poll?
Jennifer Jacobs 10:30 a.m. CDT March 12, 2015

”..Why Boone? Because Boone could be any rural community in this state," (GOP Chairman Jeff) Kaufmann said. "You can see farmers in their fields."

It's a bucolic place, flanked by corn and soybean fields, and it's flat, which will make it easier for seniors and disabled Iowans to navigate, he said. Organizers intend to find transportation between a vast parking area and a main tent that will accommodate 5,000 to 7,000 people. Smaller existing buildings will house medical staff, the voting area and the press, he said.

Prices for the tickets and fees charged candidates to participate have not yet been set, but they could be the same or lower than last time, Kaufmann said…

So long as people still turn out to vote, then fine. I mean, if they don't, that'd probably just show the old guard of the GOP, yet again, that these newer folks only show up whey they feel it benefits them, but not during the entire process. They should be able to make it out.
