In Donald Trump’s America, Rep. Justin Amash Sets an Independent Course

Justin Amash is sipping water at a movie-theater bar in Grand Rapids, Mich. It smells like popcorn, there are neon lights everywhere, and Remember the Titans is playing silently on wall-mounted TVs. A steady trickle of people pass by, but none seem to recognize their Congressman, a thin guy in a polo shirt, khakis and wiry glasses topped with a pair of Eugene Levy eyebrows.

If the Congressman keeps a low profile, it’s not because of his decisions. In May, after reading the Mueller report, he became the only Republican in the House to say President Donald Trump had engaged in behavior that met “the threshold for impeachment,” and in July, he announced he was leaving the Republican Party and running for re-election in his Michigan district as an independent. As national Republicans continue to defend Trump, Amash has become something of a unicorn–and is risking his seat along the way.

Amash says people from both sides of the aisle have told him they hope he succeeds, if only to show that breaking free of the two-party structure can work. By leaving the Republicans, Amash says, he has expanded his ability to speak to a broader group of voters, many of whom might not listen if he were the GOP’s man.

I can respect that.
Still don't agree with what Amash is doing and I think Rand has the right idea, but...guess we'll see where it leads.

--socialized medicine
--the Fed's inflationary monetary policy
--bailing out Wall Street banks
--bailing out car manufacturers
--confiscatory wealth tax (14.25%)
--increased federal spending
--invading Libya
--"assault weapons" ban

That's irrelevant and many of those are just things he said in order to do business in NYC and Hollyweird which he has made clear he opposes by his actions in office.

Amash is parroting MSM and Demoncrat lies and claiming to be independent, just like McStain, he even is now loved and lauded by the establishment.

Good try, but you missed several items on the checklist:

A) Argue about the meaning of words like "cut", "spending", "military", "entitlement", "increase", and "budget"
B) Tell us that their authoritarian idol really didn't mean what he said
C) Tell us that this is a brilliant move in a game of 3-D chess that only trumpettes are capable of understanding
D) Tell us that it's ok because obomba did it first
E) Tell us that it's ok because it would have been horrible if clinton had done the very same thing
F) Tell us that this is what Liberty and Freedom really mean
G) Call CPUd names

I applaud his decision in this situation. He will not have the fun that we would, but then again, we are not on display as politicians.

I admit Trump's shortcomings all the time and I don't object when anyone points out the ones that are real, my objection to Amash is that he has endorsed dangerous lies that will destroy the rule of law.

And you are still trying to make this about Trump when it is not, YOU introduced Trump into this conversation as a distraction but it doesn't make Amash any more of an independent for siding with the establishment and the MSM.
