Because he was a cop, this asshole fully expected to avoid any serious consequences for beating someone for no good reason:

@ 15:58 : "I'm gonna be arrested?! That's not something you really expect to happen [when you're a cop] ..."

@ 17:19 : "I never would have thought in a million years that I was gonna be [arrested]."

And in the end, his expectations turned out to be correct: he was fired, but only got 2 years of probation on the criminal charges (and taxpayers eventually had to shell out $70K).
