I am not a campaign professional. I'm sure everyone in the campaign and in the grassroots has the best of intentions, but most are also not campaign professionals (no offense intended).
It seems to this supporter that our showing in the first primary and first two cuacuses is falling short of many folks expectations. Respectfully, and with regret, it is my beleif that if we continue on this path, there is little to suggest that we will do better in enough states to effect the parties nomination. That to me will be a failure of this campaign- if not the movement.
Under these circumstances, and with so many other obstacles imposed on this campaign by the establishment, and the media, it is going to become increasingly difficult to recruit new supporters, and perhaps even keep some of the ones we already have.
This may very likely, and very quickly impact our ability to raise capital. These 2 factors, a non expanding (or shrinking) support base, along with decreasing revenues during an expensive campaign, lead us exactly where many don't want to go... including me and I hope the campaign.
I have many suggestions that seem like they would work to me... but as a layman, my opinions are likely worth little more than what you paying for them. The only suggestion I can confidently make is to take as much money as is necessary to figure out what we can do to change our momentum for the better.
If that means a new staff, consultants, a change of strategy, or any other ethical and moral apporach, then I suggest we swallow our pride and do it immediatly. If the campaign thinks the grassroots needs to change how or what so many are doing, then please, find a way to provide that guidance. We need to know what we have to do (beyond just raising money) if we are to change the results we are getting.
If you truelly do want the suggestions of the inexperienced, I'm sure many are happy to provide them- including me.
I implore the heads of this campaign to do what must be done to win. Otherwise, the campaign, our hope and and incredible opportunity will be wated.
