I used to go to church every Sunday. I stopped when Bush jr won the 2nd time around. I just realize that I don't see eye to eye with Christians after they elected him twice. I heard so many Christian people say but he's a christian Lisa when I would point out something wrong with Bush. That is the only most people who voted for him coul give: he's a christian. I won't ever renounce Jesus but I can;t go to church anymore with those people.

Now it looks like the stupid Christians are going to nominate someone at least as bad as Bush because he held some prayer rally. My head is about to explode. I won't vote for Perry even if raon says to I hope he doesn't cause I know he would win if he does. I would rather see Obama win

"If he's Christian then why doesn't he follow the Christian Just War Doctrine?"

Christ said to pray in your closet in secret. Christianity should be an individualized, personal issue in the first place. Don't worry too much about the people who only are Christians so they can 'go to heaven'.

You can be spiritual and have faith without placing yourself in a certain building at a certain time and with certain other people. I think that goes for spirituality in general, regardless of the religion.

Don't bring up politics at church if it is going to make you angry. Would you disown your family if they disagreed with your politics?

first and foremost church is for community ,it is the "body of Christ" spiritually speaking. There are christians out there who are more educated in theology and history as well as logic. There is no reason to dump your faith just because a few don't understand and blindly follow. I know how it feels because I am a christian too and I have heard many many people claim to be christian yet advocate the destruction of another race or religion of people, and I just shake my head because what they speak is in contradiction to what Jesus taught.I find it very difficult to go to church sometimes, but when I do go I only go to study the bible and on my own time analyze it. I do not blindly listen or follow anyone.

Exactly!

Well you can't control the actions of other people but I would consider it a petty thing to break fellowship with those I care about.

Well, I try to communicate with them, but they won't respond. Perhaps they don't really care about me.

Working Poor,

A good many days I feel the same way about my fellow Mormons and their Mitt Romney worship. :( And what is especially bad is LDS faith almost reveres the Constitution as scripture, and we are told numerous times to befriend the Constitution and support for office those who uphold the Constitution.

I'm totally understanding your head wanting to explode sometimes...it is absolutely maddening.

Good, now you can grow your faith.
Religion just gets in the way.

Remember,, the only people Jesus spoke harshly to were the religious people. (and lawyers)
+99999999999999999999 The church is not in the Pauline triangle(nor was it very important to Pauline/classical Chritian philosophy generally, IIRC).

I did not loose my faith in Jesus I lost my desire to congregate with Christians.

Why do you feel you need to believe in something supernatural? This would seem to be the source of your difficulty. If so, maybe I can help. Let’s look closer. Is this feeling really your own, or has it been learned from others (programmed by others)? If it’s the latter, do you really want to hold on to it if it’s not your own? If it’s not, some or all of these four common causes probably explains the source of your feeling that you need to believe:

1.) Because those who profess to represent said supernatural (religious leaders) have said that you need to believe;
2.) Because your general peer group has said that you need to believe;
3.) Because you desire to believe the pleasant parts (false desire created by said leaders and groups);
4.) Because you fear what might happen if you don’t believe the unpleasant parts (false fear created by said leaders and groups).

And if it’s not really yours, it’s not REAL belief. It may be things like hope and faith and fear and brainwashing, but it’s not real belief. Real belief is what an individual has, only after much independent study and analysis. Never underestimate the power of programmed beliefs (and feelings) to mimic/resemble authentic ones.

For example, here’s a real belief (that I think you agree with): “As evidenced by Bush’s presidencies and Perry’s potential, mass-programmed religious belief continue to present a serious obstacle to Individual Liberty.”
