By Stephen C. Webster

[The Department of Homeland Security] is paying a defense contractor $11.4 million to keep tabs on protected free speech and dissent against government policies on the Internet.
[]
DHS instructed their analysts to do exactly what the Department denied.
[]
[T]he Department is paying defense contractor General Dynamics to monitor the Internet for “reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities,” including “reports that pertain to DHS and sub agencies — especially those that have a negative spin on DHS/Component preparation, planning, and response activities[.]
[]
[A]nalysts were instructed to watch for “both positive and negative reports” about the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the strangely wide-ranging “organizations outside of DHS.”

Other “items of interest” include discussions about:

immigration policies,
drug policies
,
cyber security matters
,
and U.S. foreign policy.

Say something about the endless wars? You're already on the list.
Don't like the unconstitutional drug policies? You're on the list.
Concerned about the FEMA camps? You're on the list too.
Have you ever expressed an opinion about Anons hactivism? List
Immigration? TSA? List List
Mexican Border? List

What ya gotta say 'bout that?

At least their not monitoring the web for the IRS...

Too late... unless you forgot:

IRS Plans to Track Internet Sellers' Payment Transactions Beginning 2011

and
Tax deadbeats are finding someone actually
reads their MySpace and Facebook postings:
the taxman.

But you say... there couldn't be enough agents to watch what everyone says all the time... Apparently you haven't heard of the:
Technically defunded, but operationally present Information Awareness Office; you see... its the computers that are watching you and they're much more capable than you ever imagined;
SYSTEMS with the ability to extract data from multiple sources (e.g., text messages, social networking sites, financial records, and web pages). It was to develop the ability to detect patterns comprising multiple types of links between data items or people communicating (e.g., financial transactions, communications, travel, etc.).
[]
Fuse face and gait recognition into a 24/7 human identification system.
[]
speech-to-text transcription technology whose [focus is] on everyday human-to-human speech from broadcasts and telephone conversations

DON'T FORGET,

Once you're on the list, you can be labeled a terrorist, and they (the computers?) can assassinate you, by drone, at will.

I warn you ahead of time... its getting crowded over here on this side of the list.

anything you say can & will,

Ahahahaaaaaaaaa. They are gonna get me for sure! Why would they survey without intent to act on intel gathered... well allow me to have the honor to be the first to say:

-The wars we are currently engaged in are tragic and need to be ended ASAP: For our troops, our money, and the innocent that are doomed to be murdered in the course of conduction.
-To punish a victimless crime violently makes us all criminals. I do not, and will never support the imprisonment of innocent men and women. If there is no victim, there is no crime. Anyone placed into prison to be violently handled by guard and fellow inmate alike for the crime of burning one is truly a martyr of our time.
-Bills that carry misnomers such as: PIPA and SOPA remind me a bit too much of the patriot act. They are not done in good faith by a government whose only job is to protect liberties but by a rogue establishment that often, frequently, intentionally and disgustingly confuses to protection of liberty with the erosion of it.
-FEMA only interferes with "Emergency Management" by substituting assistance from honest humanitarians with federal bureaucrats who, instead of paying to help, are being payed. How is it in Fema's interest that a disaster is efficiently handled when the longer it runs the more money FEMA gets?

So, guess Ill be seeing some of you in Camp Undesirable.

If you are on the list, the Universe will smile for you.

Fuck the DHS. Come get us. Your world will crumble every bit as much as ours - but all universal balance for justice will be on our side. I can live with that. Can you?

From the 51st state

The DHS is purely designed to intimidate, humiliate and control the population. The DHS is inherently evil and immoral.

Proud to be on the list

I don't know if I'm on the list. Haven't flown since I donated to Ron Paul and really started ranting about the govt on Facebook(yeah I know, but the damn family makes me stay on there...plus I'm waking up some old friends).

He he... I am probably on that list too. For about month i ended all my e-mails with "bomb, pacage, destination" and all other flaged words.

I encourage people to do more social networking.

There actually IS some value to that: if everyone is discussing how bad DHS is, it makes their list less valuable.

Ever try to do an internet search for someone with a fairly unique name like Richard C. Walczak? Pretty easy.

Now try searching for Michael Smith. You get flooded with results.

Doesn't surprise me.

You just know "Big Sis" is a flag word. Fuck them.

Can't imprison or charge 99% of the country.

What good does it do them if everyone is on the list?

oh no! i responded to this thread . . . I'm on the list.

Janet Napolitano... you can sucks my balls you dike bitch.

DHS guy reading this and laughing... ask yourself why a veteran that believes in keeping an oath to our Constitution is considered an enemy of our nation.

From article:

It is already a matter of public record that the U.S. Air Force has purchased software used for “persona management” across multiple social media platforms, which gives information operatives the ability to control a virtual army of fake people online. Military officials told Raw Story that the software was being used for “classified social media activities” overseas.
