Huge victory for Paul in the middle of Neocon stonghold - delegates & resolutions!!

My precinct is in the county seat of Collin County. One of the most red, most neo-con filled areas in the country. Shoot, Diebold's headquarters are in the same city. Very generic suburban area.

I showed up to the caucus expecting to be the lone voice for Paul with maybe a few others. Amazingly, when I arrived, there are 18 people there and at least 9 are Dr. Paul supporters. The others consisted of undecided / open minded types with maybe one or two true hardline neocons.

Everyone in attendance became a delegate to the county.

Not only that we voted down a resolution supporting the Iraq war and Bush's policies in Iraq. This is the county with the highest per capita of "W" stickers on the back of cars in the country.

We voted to include resolutions for the following:
Eliminating the FED
Eliminating the IRS
Expressing our disapproval of Iraq war policy
A call to eliminate federal agencies such as the Dept of Education, Energy, Social Security, etc.

It was a lot of fun, and we had some spirited discussion.

The only way you can make a difference is to actually show up. It matters!

We too had some spirited discussion, and several commented how it was the longest yet most interesting convention they had ever attended - one gentleman was in his 90's. Many seemed to agree with our message much more than I had anticipated.

Several RP resolutions were passed. Including 2 requesting the abolishment of the IRS!

This is how politics works folks, getting involved in the trenches, giving up some leisure time, going to meetings, talking to others, and playing the game.

We can make the system work for us instead of against us.

Just become the system, and never compromise your principles for power.

Ron Paul has shown us how, now lets all follow his example.

So true. My precinct had 7 people show up and 5 were for Ron Paul. I went to a neighboring precinct meeting down the hall where there were around 40 people and 33 were Ron Paul supporters. Their was some serious heated discussions regarding the rules at that meeting. They had 15 delegate spots to fill and only 13 delegates were elected, all Ron Paul supporters. The 4 people that did not win the popular vote to become delegates still thought they were going to decide which 2 losers would fill the other 2 remaining delegate positions. The Ron Paul contingency did not allow that to occur fortunately. The neocon contingency were left in the wake with their mouths open in shock. Yes on a grassroots level Ron Paul made incredible gains and now have a foothold at least at the precinct level. The next step is to insure a constitutional platform be put forth at the next level and so forth. If Ron Paul supporters are in the majority at the next three levels you can set the party platform. The Ron Paul support can take away the keys and do some house cleaning.

We had a very contentious group of old party line farts at our precinct convention in austin last night. We took control of the precinct as chair and secretary, knocking out the neocon who'd been chair for the past 8 years. His cronies who attended were incredulous. We had 11 attendees and they had 10. We voted down their first 5 candidates and then they started getting crazy.

They were accusing a coup of coming in and taking over and they wanted to know who we were and why we were voting down all these "good" Republicans. I was sitting in front as Secretary, freaking out (quietly). Our RP Chair was exceptionally good at fending off their comments and getting us back to the business at hand.

It's too long a story to go into, but we basically took control, shook them up, and then let them win a couple of seats. We got the majority of delegates (11) to their 7 and we had a good conversation about our positions. They know we're the power now and we're not going to stop until we have the platforms we want.

Whew! What a night.

Of those, 1 was a huckster, at least 3 of us (and I am thinking 5 with 1 person voted in being absent) are paul, 1 or 2 were mccaninnites, the rest undecided. The best part was we got 13 out of 14 resolutions passed. precinct chair went to a suspected mccain person, but secretary went to a paulite. The paulites were clearly the most educated on the issues. We swept the old hands away.
