How prepared are you for a SHTF scenario?

How prepared are you if all Utilities/ga were lost and police resources were limited?

Could probably survive up to a month on the food around the house. Got enough shotgun ammo to fend off a few attacks.

Same here...probably enough food for a month, from there it would be mainly fishing in the gulf. The gas would go out but I'd have to use the oars and follow the tides. Though I'll be getting chickens this weekend so that would help.

I think my main problem would be water.

Aside from getting rid of sewage (assuming that is gone as well) I am sure I could board up my house for 1 or 2 months (with the family inside) and get by with no problems. That's conservative, if we really had to ration things out and had no options I think we could manage for 6 months or longer, assuming we had access to SOME form of water (need not be sanitary).

Supply-wise not as long as I'd like, especially at the rate my boys are growing and eating. But I know how to live in conditions most people would balk at.

I am starting to think that a SHTF scenario is extremely unlikely unless instigated by a 3rd party.

right now I could last 6 months no problem.. maybe more..

I am slowly working my way up.

I'm not sure, I haven't seen my liberal neighbors' food stocks.

I've got at least a month's worth of canned goods and dry food in the pantry, two if we ration it ( but we'd still eat pretty well ), water and a way to purify the pond and creek water around me. Wood and stove fuel for cooking is something I have on hand as well. There are a few grocery stores close by for last minute aquisitions if necessary, and I keep enough cash on hand for just such an occasion.

As far as weapons... :D I'm good, and you should feel bad for whatever poor looter bastards who try to rob me. I'm picking up another shotgun in two weeks ( pump 12 ga ), and I've got a moderate amount of ammo.

In the next few months though, I plan to have enough goodies to last six months. I still wish I would have started sooner.

I just started with supplies. Really wish I started WAY earlier! I'm good for about a month or two....at least I think

You can get a really nice self contained composting toilet (, no water needed, with no smell guarantee) for ~$1400.

For me, it's cheaper than redoing my lateral lines, so I'll be getting those for my home this month, which will be moved the Earthship I'm building out back when it's time to move over.

How much ammo do you REALLY need for defense? I mean, leave the first ten or so bodies in conspicuous places and that should provide a decent deterrent...

The smell of dead bodies can be a bit annoying, especially when the weather is warm.

I am ready for war. But, I can always become even better prepared.

I picked I'm prepared for a month of tough living but I could probably make two. I have wood and a stove. Water is from a spring.

Where I'm lacking is I figure I only have a weeks worth of wine. I need to pick up a case or two and some vodka,,,,

I'm not sure how long a lot of us could survive without the Internet.

Porn magazines will be worth more than gold.
