I am a future free stater, one of the areas I was thinking of moving to was Keene. Recently I spoke with a 'native' there who told me the Keene FSP activists make more enemies among the locals than friends. I was wondering if there is anyone here from New Hampshire that could enlighten me on how the Keene FS'ers are perceived.

What are your goals of moving to NH as part of the FSP? Do you want to get arrested doing civil disobedience or be a major contributor in the pro-liberty media world? If so, I recommend living somewhere near the Keene area. If you want to get elected to office, I recommend somewhere that either leans GOP in elections or is a swing area. Keene, Portsmouth, Dover and Concord are not swing cities in NH. They vote Democrat. The largest cities,Manchester and Nashua, are swing cities. Much of the rest of NH except for a very college areas and so on is either a swing area or leans GOP.

It's mostly about how you act. If you volunteer in the community, don't do drugs or get drunk in public, are really polite to people and look square or something similar, people in the community will likely think highly of you given enough time. If you wear offensive shirts, go around constantly filming government workers, tell everyone you are a FSPer, constantly talk about ending government, call yourself an anarchist, curse in public, have lots of visible tattoos, smoke and throw your cigarettes on the ground and frequently do public civil disobedience, some people will be annoyed by you and you may be targeted by some of the local government workers.

There are a large variety of Free Staters in the Keene area. Some of the conservative/libertarian types like some of the FSPers in Keene. Some of the liberal activist types like some of the FSPers in Keene. A few of the locals with some sort of notoriety like a few of the FSPers in Keene. However, I'd say that the overall sentiment from locals is mixed with perhaps slightly more of the active/voting/busybody types not liking most of the FSPers in Keene. The local newspaper covers much of the activities in Keene by liberty lovers but the slant is usually slightly negative.

Keene is much more statist/big government focused than most of NH. The government and local paper certainly lean that way. I think I read only one pro-liberty editorial in the local paper all year.

Then again, if liberty activists went to any city in NH and acted like the liberty activists in Keene do, I think chances are than the population of that city would have an overall negative view of the activists, anyway. Of course, that partially makes sense because everywhere in the world, the majority of people are against freedom. However, it may also partially be explained because of some of the actions of FSPers and other non-FSP related liberty activists in the Keene area. Some people in the population don't like it when people hold a candle light vigil outside of a judge's house, bring a gun with you when you try to plant a garden in the city square, drink beer inside a city council meeting, hold signs that say school sucks in front of a middle school and then try to talk with the kids, smoke marijuana in the city square, smoke marijuana and yell while at the largest tourist event in the city, curse inside a courtroom, refuse to stand for a judge, refuse to take off your hat in court, yell assault on video when a government worker touches you and so on. Most adults are do as you are told, follow the rules type of folks and most parents want to shelter their children. Some people get upset.
