Now that you mention it I do recall something of the sort. So this particular social group were devout Ron Paul supporters and got everyone else on board? No only if we could do that with all the social conservatives/evangelicals in Iowa.I recall hearing some people at the time arguing that the demographics were very favorable to Ron Paul there because of the presence of a really big (big in comparison to the small size of Jefferson county) school of transcendental meditation there.

There are old threads you can find here where people from Jefferson county talk about what they did. But their strategies weren't that unique, and they neglect to mention the importance of the presence of that transcendental meditation community there, which, according to others I've talked to, made a huge difference.

Ron isn't running indie, end of story....sorry.That video is just about all the evidence Ron Paul should need to Run Independant
From the Video..
Strategy : We didn't focus on regular republicans. We focused on Anti War Independants and Anti War Democrats and Young People
So Ron Paul is basically wasting his time running Republican because with the sore loser rules in some states he cant get on the ballot as an Independant for the general election.
How about this for a new Strategy.
1. Attend the debates up until the first Republican Primary- He may if he is lucky get 15% of Republicans to support him.
2. Remove his name from the Republican ballots before the primaries.
3. Announce an Independant run and immediately start focusing his message on Independants and Anti War Democrats.
4. Win the General election with 35% of the total vote to Obama's 34% and Romneys 30% and the other 1% scattered elsewhere.
Other than that we are spreading the mesage, but running in the Republican primaries guarantees 2012 will end up exactly as 2008 did and i am not looking forward to that feeling again![]()

George Bush.....Republican..48,886,597.53.37%.426
Michael Dukakis.Democratic..41,809,476.45.65%.111
Ron Paul........Libertarian.431,750....0.47%..0
Wouldn't it make more sense for Ron Paul to run as a Libertarian? Since he would automatically be guaranteed access on the ballot.
That was before the whole Ron Paul revolution. PPP shows Ron Paul getting double digits in a hypothetical Ron/Romney/Obama match up.
Yeah, lets get Ron Paul 15% or so (pulling in 3rd), piss off all the Republicans we otherwise would have gained, and leave mainstream Republicans angry at Libertarians for a very long time.
