Trump nominee to be Air Force chief of staff says he navigates 'two worlds' as an African American man

By Kaelan Deese - 06/05/20

Gen. Charles Brown, commander of Pacific Air Forces and President Trump's nominee to be the next Air Force chief of staff, said in a video released Friday that he navigates "two worlds" as an African American and that he's "thinking about how I can make improvements" institutionally.

"As the commander of Pacific Air Forces, a senior leader in our Air Force, and an African American, many of you may be wondering what I'm thinking about the current events surrounding the tragic death of George Floyd," Brown said.
The general said he has been thinking about living in "two worlds, each with their own perspective and views."

"I'm thinking about how my nomination provides some hope, but also comes with a heavy burden. I can't fix centuries of racism in our country, nor can I fix decades of discrimination that may have impacted members of our Air Force," he said.
Brown said he is thinking about how he can make improvements both "personally, professionally, and institutionally," so that current and future airmen "appreciate the value of diversity."

Despite fakenews media claims, actions speak louder than words. A continuation of record of stregthening of civil rights campaigns/rooting out of white supremacist groups by a POTUS who genuinely idolizes honest Abe Lincoln as his hero.

Quote:
This strong message from Trump administration should further boost its image as a supporter of MLK cause/civil rights movement and credibility of its minorities outreach campaign that has included strong actions like prison reform, embrace of Black Lives Matter/social justice activists, pardon of Jack Johnson over Anti White Slave Act violation, threat to Sweden for release of rapper Rocky ASAP among other.

Ahmaud Arbery killing being investigated as federal hate crime, family attorney says

May 25, 2020
BRUNSWICK, Ga. — S. Lee Merritt, an attorney for the family of Ahmaud Arbery, told CNN on Monday that the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the shooting death as a hate crime.
Merritt said he learned about the development after meeting with United States Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia Bobby Christine on Thursday.
Arbery, who was black, was jogging outside Brunswick, Georgia, on Feb. 23 when Gregory McMichael and his son, who are white, chased after him, authorities said. Arbery and Travis McMichael struggled over the latter's shotgun and Arbery was shot three times. Gregory McMichael told police Arbery attacked his son, a police report says.

“So I saw the tape, and it’s very, very disturbing, the tape. I got to see it. It’s very disturbing. I looked at a picture of that young man. He was in a tuxedo, and — in fact, he put it up. And I will say that that looks like a really good, young guy,” Trump told “Fox & Friends.”

Trump administration had threatened Sweden to secure release of Somali-American rapper ASAP Rocky

U.S. warned Sweden of 'negative consequences' if ASAP Rocky wasn't released
Aug. 3, 2019
The U.S. government warned Sweden of "negative consequences" as it advocated for rapper ASAP Rocky during his trial for assault charges in Stockholm this week, according to a pair of letters released by the Swedish Prosecution Authority.
According to the letters, obtained by NBC News partner Aftonbladet, the U.S. special presidential envoy for hostage affairs wrote to Swedish prosecutors urging them to release Rocky.
"The government of the United States of America wants to resolve this case as soon as possible to avoid potentially negative consequences to the U.S.-Swedish bilateral relationship," Amb. Robert O'Brien wrote in the letter, dated Wednesday.
In response Sweden's prosecutor-general, Petra Lundh, defended the independence of Swedish courts and said he therefore had to deny O'Brien's requests.

Democrats will still call him a racist.

With Joe's own segregationist ties highlight risk, Biden-Dems probably won't make such calls too loudly.
Even any Trump media allies/Trump-Dems won't try to push such narratives too hard for 2020, that appearently was a temporary 2016 election mobilization tactic viz-a-viz birther crad play.

In sharp contrast to 2016, Trump 2020 seems to be gearing up minorities outreach, diversity is our strength messaging for the most part while trying to hold on to 2016 "conservative" vote base - not an easy line to walk without appearing like a flip-flopper but with Kushner's brilliant strategy it could possibly work.

A San Antonio trailblazer is being saluted as one of the most influential people in the world.
General Charles. Q. Brown, Jr. made history this summer when he became the nation’s first Black chief of not just the Air Force, but any military service. In his new post, Brown serves as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, largely regarded as the most prestigious role for any member of the U.S. military. In addition to being born in San Antonio, Brown received his bachelor's from Texas Tech University.

Another historic milestone.
While there may be glitches in some areas, on few important issues like warp speed vaccination plan, 'diversity is our atrength' model, transition seems to be smooth.

Have not seen much about new guy's track record yet but odds are that will be huge improvment over likes of 'known unknowns' guy that blundering GOP Bush-Cheney regime had imposed.

Biden makes groundbreaking pick for defense secretary

President-elect Joe Biden on Wednesday officially introduced his nominee to lead the Department of Defense, retired Gen. Lloyd Austin, who if confirmed would be the first African American to hold the post but whose nomination is already facing headwinds in Congress.
Austin, a former commander of U.S. Central Command, who retired from military service in 2016 after a nearly 40-year career, will need a waiver from Congress to lead the Pentagon given that he is less than seven years removed from active duty.

In their remarks, both Biden and Austin took note of the looming battle over the waiver Austin would require to serve as Secretary of Defense due to his recent retirement, stressing their belief in a civilian-run military.
“There's a good reason for this law, that I fully understand and respect. And I would not be asking for this exception ... if I did not believe this moment in our history didn't call for it -- tt does call for it -- and if I didn't have the faith I have in Lloyd Austin to ask for it,” Biden said.
“I believe in the importance of civilian control of the military, so does the secretary designee Austin,” he added.

Austin, who oversaw the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq in 2011, tried to assuage concerns over his nomination, saying he believed in strong civilian oversight of the military as he stood alongside Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.

“When I concluded my military service four years ago, I hung up my uniform for the last time, and went from being General Lloyd Austin to Lloyd Austin. It is an important distinction, and one that I make with utmost seriousness and sincerity. And so, I come to this ... new role as a civilian leader with military experience, to be sure, but also with a deep appreciation and reverence for the prevailing wisdom of civilian control of our military,” Austin said.

Or; Historic! For the first time in history an African American rises to the rank of Air Force chief.

Which title isn't pushing divide?

Using your logic:

Unifying title:
Historic: For the first time in history an African-Indian-American woman rises to the rank of Vice President

Divisive title:
Historic: Biden picks America's first African-Indian-American woman Kamala Harris as Vice President nominee

Am I reading your view right?

Neither of your attempts are divisive.

Ok agreed. While original news was about celeberation of 'diversity is our strength' model that got a boost under Obama/Trump Presidencies, my comment was about continuation of this trend as Trump-Biden transition is moving ahead.
"United we stand, divided we fall' that you seemed to highlight does not contradict diversity model.
