Hillary goes far left on guns

Hillary Clinton is nervous.
After all, rival Bernie Sanders has won seven of the last eight Democrat primaries. Although he's behind in his native New York, the race continues to tighten in advance of Tuesday's primary.
...we can tell Clinton is nervous by looking at her smears and false claims against the gun industry as she desperately tries to gain voters to the left of Sanders in a state that favors extreme gun control.
...
“One of my biggest contrasts with Sen. Sanders, that he would place gun manufacturers' rights and immunity from liability against the parents of the children killed at Sandy Hook is just unimaginable to me,” Clinton said on MSNBC's “Morning Joe” last week.
It's demagoguery at its worst.
...
Clinton also has claimed that the majority of guns in New York come from out of state, specifically Vermont, which Sanders represents in the Senate.
This claim is so outrageous that fellow Democrats and her own supporters are calling her out. That would include Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin, a Clinton superdelegate.
...
While Clinton's gun-control zealotry might benefit her with a small portion of far-left voters now, her position on gun control will not serve her well with general-election voters.
...
For the first time in history, a 2015 ABC News/Washington Post poll shows more people believe gun rights should be protected than those who believe the country needs more gun control. Gallup polling shows 60 percent of Americans believe gun ownership makes a home more safe, not less.
There's no doubt Clinton's smears against Sanders and the gun industry will continue. But the reception outside New York won't be kind.
