ThePoliticker is barely twelve hours old and we already have our first gargantuan task. We will, once the candidates have started running, need to track which candidates are in what zipcodes, (thus the reason this information is collected from people who sign up on this).

This will help us organize ourselves into groups that can focus on doing good where good must be done efficiently and effectively. I will be undertaking this to a smaller degree myself, but it will be impossible for me to get every zipcode in each congressional district.

So, it is in this spirit that I am putting out an open call for help. Anyone who would like to help is welcome to match up zipcodes with their corresponding congressional district(s). This information would be most easily organized into some sort of spreadsheet, and once you have finished everything you are willing to do, e-mail it to [email protected].

I will update the Get Active page with the zipcodes we have mapped, so that work isn't done twice.

Alternatively, if anyone knows how we can avoid this whole mess by getting the information from somewhere already compiled, I would be eternally grateful.

Yeah, made it from scratch in about an hour.

Web design and development is what I do, and since Trevor was doing the money bomb website, I moved on to another important issue.

There are two sites that already have a search engine with this data:

US Congress:

and

Project Vote Smart
http://www.vote-smart.org/index.htm

You might be able to get the data from one of them (it would certainly save a lot of time!).
