So if a delegate is not binded to said candidate is it not possible to be a splinter cell delegate and then when the convention hits claim Ron Paul? Is this not the easiest way to win?

Am I missing something?

I think most states bind their delegates, at least on the first ballot. It's the caucus states that usually don't bind the delegates at all.

Yup - in some cases delegates to the national convention are not bound for a candidate, or only bound for the 1st/xth vote. Bound delegates can STILL be Ron Paul supporters, provided we have the numbers and organize to get our people voted in as district, state and therefore national delegates. It all starts at the precinct level, by making sure ALL Ron Paul supporters stay and vote for Ron Paul delegates. And all Ron Paul supporters should step up to become delegates. Sometimes all it takes is just to make that extra little bit of effort = big payoff!
