I firmly believe that this pyschological effect can help you understand more clearly what is going on in the heads of some of our most stubborn, and seemingly ignorant, opposition. The ones who always seem to reject your facts and empirics, only to say that you just don't understand the issue as well as they do!

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled people make poor decisions and reach erroneous conclusions, but their incompetence denies them the metacognitive ability to recognize their mistakes.[1] The unskilled therefore suffer from illusory superiority, rating their ability as above average, much higher than it actually is, while the highly skilled underrate their own abilities, suffering from illusory inferiority.

I was reminded of this reading a thread just now in which an email exchange resulted in a clearly uneducated person claimed that he was the one that actually had all the facts and was capable of the "deep anaylsis" when in fact there was absolutely none of that happening.
