Haitians Riot Over United Nations Cholera "Gift"

The United Nations, an organization whose first Secretary General was Alger Hiss, a Soviet spy embedded in the federal government, almost never even appears to solve any of the problems it is tasked to solve. Notorious examples, like the “Oil for Food Program,” have received broad attention. The Iraqi people were not helped at all by the United Nations — with its corrupt, power-hunger, self-important functionaries wearing the mask of compassionate concern. In Haiti, a poor and unhappy land, the United Nations has hit, perhaps, a new low. So-called “Peacekeeping Forces” drawn from a mishmash of different nations and ethnic groups, have come into this nation carved out of the western part of the island of Hispaniola, to help Haitians recover from the January 12, 2010 earthquake, a natural disaster. What these forces brought, instead, was the deadly disease of cholera, previously almost unknown in Haiti. Microbiologists have conjectured that Nepalese contingents from the United Nations forces, brought the particular strain of cholera into Haiti, because this strain comes from rivers near the region of Nepal from which these United Nations forces were drawn. his epidemic is now spilling over into the Dominican Republic, which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti.
Compounding the problem of cholera, which has claimed the lives of more than one thousand Haitians and sickened many more, is the utter lack of credibility which United Nations protestations of harmlessness have had with the average Haitian. The riots spawned by the suspicion that the United Nations has brought a virulent new disease into the weakened population of Haiti have prevented non-profit organizations not connected with the United Nations from bringing in medicine and staff needed to save lives. The average Haitian, saddled with a horribly corrupt government, and now “helped” by a United Nations whose officers carry deadly diseases into Haiti, finds even private charities skittish about helping Haiti. The United Nations does no perceivable good in the eyes of sensible people.
Now, in Haiti, this ghastly organization has succeeded in making one of the most miserable places on the planet even worse.
