none of the above. i'd find me an indian tribe and an indian wife. you'd never hear from me again, until you came to drive us off our land.

I voted Confederate, in reality I would have headed for the frontier and not had anything to do with either side.

Wish there was place to run to today...

It doesn't have a "Californio" section, so I voted apathetic. California never had slaves, California didn't fight in the Civil War.

I'd probably be an anti-slavery Copperhead with the same basic plan. Work for peace until the war got hot then get out of dodge, if I wasn't west already.

I would guess living in NC I would have been a Confederate.

It's not often you get to fight against an invading army either.

Cursed them both and moved where I am now. Only those that were justified to fight were the slaves.

For the life of me I will never understand people's obsession with this topic. It's not like people who wave a confederate flag are any more likely to vote for Ron Paul. I've lived around confederates all my life. I've heard all of the arguments, good, bad and just retarded. My HS history teacher sympathized with the south and was probably one of the least informed teachers I've ever had. And on the other hand I've known confederates who were as articulate as any ivy league intellectual. I'm sure I'll never convince any hard core confederate of my position and I'm certain I'll never be convinced of theirs either and I'm at peace with that.

Half my family was in the Oregon Territory in those days, and didn't get involved either way. The other half were serfs in what is now the Czech Republic.

Copperhead. Had the Copperhead movement gained enough strength and popularity, the Confederacy would have won and the south would have seceded.
