Gun Rights in America after Obergefell

I am wondering if anyone has tried to use the logic of the Obergefell ruling for equal protection of gun rights. If a state finds that I have the right to open carry (constitutional carry, etc.), and then I go to a district where that is banned, shouldn't the 14th amendment apply? Shouldn't every state be required to find that I have the same rights wherever I am in the country?

It seems like an obvious tactic to employ, so I'm wondering if people are trying it. I'm also not pretending that Obergefell was rightly decided or even could be rightly decided... that isn't the point. My question is about using the government's logic with gay marriage in Obergefell to expand gun rights to every state.
