Bernie Sanders was never going to win the nomination, the non-white faction of the party is way too skeptical of him, and there is enough women who will vote for someone based on having 2x chromosomes to make up the difference. Ideologically the Democratic Party leans socialist, but they will not accept a white male candidate unless his private life parallels the backstage antics of an Elton John concert.
