Global War on Corruption
The selection of rejection should not be based on affection. I think we should keep an open mind when inspecting ideas that came from those that we do not like instead of immediately denouncing them. A common tactic used by politicians to subdue the will of the people is to utilize fear. In our current times this technique is being employed worldwide. Most people despise these practices and probably think that fearmongering is evil. I think some good might come out of examining their perspective and using their methods to our advantage.
The constant reminder of terrorism on a daily basis keeps us alert but nervous. It does not hurt to be alert but being nervous affects our decisions. Therefore the fearmonger’s intention is to affect our decision. Let us differentiate between good and bad fearmongering. As an example, when you warn your child about playing with fire that is good fearmongering. Similarly in politics when you explain the direness of engaging in a war is also good fearmongering. So basically like any action it is the intentions that define its goodness.
The psychological war that is launched circulates around the idea of terrorism. The word terrorism became a trigger in the public conscience to invoke fear. The effectiveness of a fearmongering campaign relies on the level of acceptance of the receiver. People accept information based on credibility, popularity and common sense. People are scared from the idea of terrorism because they have seen it with their own eyes and their governments stood there helpless. The fear effect is successful because the medias’ representations ascertain their concept.
I think mimicking their fearmongering campaign to help our campaign is a good idea that is worth considering. What do they want whenever they invoke fear? Personal gains. We want justice and a corruption free environment. We should also invoke fear to aid in our goal. They constantly use the word terrorism we can also constantly use the word corruption. They use the fear when it is necessary for them to acquire their gains. However our desire is permanent until it is fulfilled, so we should use every chance to make our war on corruption affixed to every mind.
