Dumb move. Obviously not a racial remark in context, but if he apologizes he's done.
Let me write his rebuttal....
"My opponent is apeing the characteristics of the fake news media by labeling me a racist. This is patently absurd. All I did was call a spade a spade. Frankly labelling me a racist is like a teapot calling a kettle "black." The racist labeling is nothing but a boogieman meant to scare away voters. And this tactic has been going on longer than a coon's age. I've got a niggling suspicion that it is a lock step socialist move to disenfranchise conservative voters. "

Agreed. Except the only reason it was stupid is everyone knows the press will go this low to say someone is a racist. You simply can't use countless normal words anymore if you are a public figure without getting slammed like this.
I think politicians should be careful because too many swing voters are influenced by the MSM but if they happen to accidentally say something like this they shouldn't ever apologize, they should insist that they meant nothing racist and will not apologize.I don't care any more and I think a lot of others are at that point. Most white people I know practically bend over backwards to be sensitive to these issues. And yet on my my progressive friends keep posting crap or telling me crap that I am evil, racist, privileged, etc. People are sick of it. A perso's carreer should not end because they innocently used a COMMON colloquialism. That's insane. No hyperbole, it is insane. It's why that jackassTrump won. I think if Desantos stays tough, it will play to his advantage. Infact you may see people purposely pushing the envelope to send progressives nuts.
The pendulum reached one Apex and is starting to swing back to sanity. Pendulums tend not to stay at sanity but sway to the other insanity. However, it is progressive idiots who cry racist (wolf) who are the ones who will inadvertantly push the pendulum to the far right.

Whenever I read $#@! like this, I automatically know the person has no skin in the game. I will rather immodestly say I pay well into six figures in income tax every year. Yeah. There is a difference. There is a difference between a Bernie Sanders socialist and a guy with a 94% rating from Club for Growth. It isn't a theoretical difference. It is very concrete. Equating a pretty good Republican to a guy endorsed by Bernie Sanders is absurd.
