I don't see why there's so much dislike for Root. He's certainly not ideal, but all things considered he's generally pretty consistent with the Constitution. I hope he runs against Sen. Reid in 2010: And he would get crushed.

Don't be so sure. With Reid's poll numbers so bad, Root stands a real chance. He has a small but possible chance running as a Libertarian, and a very good chance if her runs as a Republican.
