Unbelievable! The system runs so smoothly in this country, that is, as long as things go the way of those in control. However, as soon as the process is tested and a tireless and passionate minority begins to rise up, all hell breaks lose! Let me just say that any person who intentionally blocks the honest and legal efforts of Ron Paul supporters to have a fair say in this election is simply un-American, period.

We are so weak as a country right now in terms of our resolve and beliefs. The political process has historically been a very vocal, boisterous and passionate experience for everyone involved. However in the last number of decades we have been lulled to sleep and hypnotised by the mainstream media to just play nice and go along with the plan. That is all coming to an end now, and only Ron Paul supporters..........

Some may reference the country we live in now and the path we're walking as a parallel of Orwell's "1984" but I see it more like Huxley's "Brave New World" where instead of control by fear and oppression we are losing our freedoms from the pacification of the Public.

What we love has enslaved us. Do you wish to shake the very foundation of society and launch ourselves into a world that is free but unknown -- To take to the streets and risk your life for liberty like the brave Revolutionaries that founded this country. Or, watch another rerun of Friends, check your Facebook, drink your Mocchiato, play MW3 then go to bed nice and early for a productive 8 hour work day and repeat.

Holy shit how weird. I watched that movie last night for the first time in about 15 years.

We have a weird mix of the two forming. That is why there can be a debate on that issue. We have things like red light cameras which are a joke of a trial. You are convicted by a machine that you cannot analyze quite frequently. We have threats of losing status, etc to those who challenge the status quo.

The threats only work if people have something though. The Mocchiatos, MW3 and Facebook act as items we don't want to lose. The threat of punishment means less of that. It means less opportunity to pursue dreams. Dreams are huge to my generation.

It's that people don't want to see the injustice around them. If I get mine, then it's ok. We have an individualistic society. Harming yourself for a common good is something hardly anyone does anymore. We are headed for a society with a tragedy of the commons.

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away,
only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air
You better watch out, there may be dogs about.
I've looked over Jordan, and I have seen things are not what they seem.

What do you get for pretending the dangers not real.
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
down well trodden corridors, into the valley of steel.
What a surprise! A look of terminal shock in your eyes.
Now things are really what they seem. No, this is no bad dream.

The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want He makes me down to lie.
Through pastures green He leadeth me the silent waters by.
With bright knives He releaseth my soul.
He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places.
He converteth me to lamb cutlets.
For lo, He hath great power, and great hunger.
When cometh the day we lowly ones,
through quiet reflection and great dedication,
master the art of karate,
lo, we shall rise up,
and then we'll make the buggers eyes water!

Bleating and babbling I fell on his neck with a sream.
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
march cheerfully out of obscurity unto the dream.

Have you heard the news? The dogs are dead!
You better stay home and do as you're told,
get out of the road if you want to grow old.

I consider America more Animal Farm than 1984. Though we are starting to hit 1984 level surveillance soon.

I agree with this. I will be the first to admit that I love some of the stuff that capitalism and advantageous markets has given us as Americans though. I am in the process of purchasing a vacation property in a place that can only be described as a banana republic. I would consider living there full time, as they are very free and happy people. However, I have a really hard time with giving up some of the perks of American society. The internet and communications are spotty, and there is no chain store or restaurant in the whole country. If we ever move down there I might have to open up a place to get a mocchiato. ) And I will practically die without sushi or persian food. The other thing is that I feel like my kids couldn't have as good of opportunities living somewhere like that -- even if they are completely free to start businesses and don't get taxed, that is only half of the economic equation.
