COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A 6-year-old boy says he pointed his fingers like a gun at a classmate and said, "You're dead," and that got him suspended from school.
The boy's father, Austin Thurston, told KRDO-TV that his son was suspended from Stratton Meadows Elementary School in Colorado Springs for one day for threats against peers.
"I know they have zero tolerance," Thurston said. "Going as far as a one-day suspension is a little extreme for a six-year-old in a first-grade class."
According to the boy's behavior report, an administrator spoke with the child about what being dead means and about not confusing "make-believe" or things in games with reality.
Thurston said he and his wife have also spoken with the boy about guns.
