Exactly WHAT is a Ron Paulite?
Let me put it this way.
When I was a child, one of my favorite motion songs was called "Father Abraham". I can still remember singing it in churches, Sabbath School classes (same as Sunday School) and on camp-outs. It was a blast! We sang:
And we'd sing again, but this time swinging our right arms wildly. Then, "RIGHT arm, LEFT arm!", then "RIGHT arm, LEFT arm, RIGHT leg!", etc., until finally, just before we turned around and sat down, the whole bunch of us were flopping our limbs and heads and bodies wildly, all the while trying to keep reMINDing ourselves, over and over again, that despite our utterly ridiculous appearance, we TOO were children of father Abraham.
And so we WERE! Because we too believed in the one true God, whose dwindling knowledge had once been revived and preserved during a period of very great spiritual darkness. It was bequeathed to people once again by God, through His servant Abraham, as a most precious inheritance to all the future world, including us. And this bequeathal had come down to us through the agency of a lone person, who had once upon a time heeded an unnoticed, often unpopular, even treacherous call from an invisible God. The call embodied a promise, but it required Abraham to enter into uncharted territories, moving ever by faith and never by sight.
The world had once KNOWN the true God (just as America once KNEW the principle of liberty), but through greed, and through the ageless desire people have to make "a name for themselves" (Genesis 11:4), society had gradually LOST that knowledge, and it had been replaced by empty hope-less fables. So God began a movement, when He first moved Abraham from his comfort zone, that began a long restoration, through ages of history, of a lost knowledge; a knowledge that would, according to God's promise, one day spread so far and wide as to become a blessing to "...all the families of the earth..." (Genesis 12:3). And today three of the world's greatest, and most powerful, religions all trace their lineage back and back and back to Father Abraham. One recent estimate puts the number of Abraham's ideological children at nearly FOUR BILLION people, or about 54% of the world's total population, and another estimate puts the percentage much higher at 66.7%. Our own nation, not to mention the entire modern world, owes more, of its forms and even its very existence, to these religions than most of us are aware of.
During the first GOP debate, I heard a word used to describe Ron Paul that made me realize just what Ron Paul has become (or, at least, is fast becoming), in effect, to the modern world.
