DAY 10 of Ron Paul refusing to debate Chris Peden

Dear xxxxxxx,

Galveston Daily News Endorses Peden

For the second time in less than one week, a major district newspaper says no to "Dr. No" and endorses challenger Chris Peden over 10-term congressman Ron Paul in the Republican primary for TX-14.

The editorial board said, " His [Dr. Paul's] voting is scrupulously in line with smaller government. His views are consistent with those of the Libertarian Party. He was once that party抯 presidential candidate. We can say without reservation that he is courageous and principled.

We can抰 say he is an effective representative of the district.

Grassroots leaders should have an effective ally in their congressional representative. Peden is the better choice."

Televised Debate in Victoria on Monday

We'll be at the Welder Center for Performing Arts at 214 N. Main in Victoria on Monday, Feb 25th, from 6p - 9p for a live debate hosted by the League of Women Voters and the Victoria Television Group. The debate will feature candidates from multiple races and will be broadcast live on Channel 41, KXTS and rebroadcast until the March 4th primary.

Ron Paul has declined to respond to the debate request, but if you click here you'll see the video of his feeble attempt to explain to a college student in Galveston why he won't debate Chris Peden.

Aransas County is Peden Country

In yet another sign of the growing momentum of Team Peden the executive committee of the Aransas County Republican party, the grassroots leaders who know the issues and who know the district, endorsed Chris Peden over Ron Paul.

Yet another reason to love Rockport!!

Early Voting

There has been a surge of early voting throughout the district. Areas in Brazoria County, Fort Bend County, and Galveston County are seeing increases in Republican primary voters of 100 - 300% over past primaries.

Do not wait to vote!! If you have not voted for Chris Peden yet, do so this weekend; the polls will be open until 7p on Saturday and until 6p on Sunday in most counties in the district. Take 2 or 3 friends with you and help us make history.

God Bless you and Texas,

Onzelo Markum - Political Director

Peden for Congress

Please forward this e-mail to at least 5 Republicans you know who are registered to vote in CD 14. Every vote for Chris in the March 08 Republican primary will help. Early voting starts February 19th.

See the video. Traditionally, incumbents are less likely to want to debate with other primary candidates, gives them legitimacy.

Is Paul really getting invited to debates and refusing them? Paul won't debate Peden?

No reason to give Peden exposure and facetime. Even the good doctor plays politics come election time. It's just the way it is.

Paul's gonna lose this god damn thing... I just know it. jesus h christ.

The right wingers of the Libertarian party always wanted a martyr... and now, they may just get there wish. And if you don't think they actually love to lose so as to keep in place their high minded sense of moral superiority over the rest of the "idiot sheep" who don't know what "real freedom" is all about, you're just as stubborn as they are...

Let's be real for a moment... These right-wing libertarian bastards in the official campaign would much rather "stay true" to some half-baked idea of whats right in accordance to their totally limited world-view then actually win something by making a few concession here or there. Hey guys, its called COMPROMISING! EVER HEARD OF IT?? Of course not!

I was doing some digging:D...about Onzelo Markum III (born in Harlem...) and found some interesting stuff btw...
Is it possible that we are talking about the same guy??? sounds crazy?!?check it out... just for curiosity...just on cache, main link is 404...

Second Circuit.
Argued Dec. 1, 1982.
Decided Feb. 18, 1983.
Certiorari Denied May 16, 1983.
See 103 S.Ct. 2095

Onzelo Markum, Williams' younger brother, also known as "Junior," was taped discussing with Williams sales and deliveries of cocaine. For instance, on April 18, 1981, he advised Williams that he was bringing over "that girl" (code term for cocaine) and arrived one-half hour later, turning the cocaine over to Williams. His name was on Williams' narcotics accounting sheets. In addition to assisting his brother in the purchase and sale of narcotics he exchanged large amounts of cash proceeds ($30,000 to $40,000 a day according to Williams) at midtown banks.

If Paul loses this one, then you can forget about any Presidential miracle.

Paul has raised over 1 million, Peden loaned himself $150,000

Paul served 10 terms and has a very high favorable rating, Peden is a nobody from nowhere.

Paul has run a very positive campaign, Peden is just peddling nonsense and distorting Ron's record.

and last, why the hell should Ron debate Peden, its simple, just read the constitution and you will know where one of them stands on the issues.

I should also add Hillary tried the 'he won't debate' tactic on Obama when she started to slip in the polls.

Indeed with facts like that if Ron Paul loses we will know the vote is rigged.

Just like most of the state caucuses and primaries.

It doesnt mean the vote is rigged. It means people are stupid, neocons, socialists, hate small government( take your pick).

I don't know where you are from. Do you live in some libertarian-Constitutionalist utopia? Because the majority ( 90+%) of people out in the world do not care about the Constitution, individual rights, small government, whatever. A good chunk tolerate it or are apathetic, but not many care all that much. Maybe its a little bit better there in TX 14.

I still consider myself young ( late 20s) but I have lived through enough elections and been around people enough to know how many people are. There is no need for conspiracies when you hold a viewpoint that only 1-2% of the population is very enthusiastic about.

I live in Wayne Gilchrest's district. Conservatives here have tried to knock him off for awhile, but mostly tolerated him. The War pushed it over the top and defeated him. For many Republican primary voters "real Republicans" are George W. Bush stooges who want to invade every country and bomb every Muslim. If you even question the Republican president over civil liberties or anything else you are "with THEM" and a "liberal" and so on. Same goes if you dont support unconstitutional legislation on abortion and gay issues.

People are stupid. Among other things.

I dont think Ron Paul will lose to this a-hole. But if he does, it doesn't mean anything more sinister than the misguided will of the people.

Creating a story where there is none. Planting questions in other candidates forums, the oldest trick in the book. Well, funny I am sure the main media will have a hard time covering a Paul debate story, considering the Censorship that was done to Paul and the exclusion of the debates. The interesting thing here is that Hannity from Fox News has been promoting Paul's challenger, so the Media has planted themselves right in the middle of the campaign on all fronts with Paul. Paul's Challenger hasn't been totally honest, he has been trashing Paul through third party front bloggers from Hannity, from FOX NEWS. Do you think that was a planted question? hummm I think so. Politics has become so transparent and the media ought to stop picking sides. Texans know who Paul is and Paul has been debating the issues on the national level on policies, immigration, monetary policies, foreign policy, educational reforms. So exactly what is Texans missing out on, dirty political games with the help of the mass media. Paul is exactly right, the guy should have a serious debate with himself and Texans should ask this guy, is he being completely honest trying to use Paul's national name to create a buzz for himself with the help Hannity Bloggers of FOX news. Texans certainly can visit Paul's Texas Campaign HQs, and I am sure will be seeing a lot of Ron Paul locally. He is very accessable.

There is no statistical precedent for Ron to loose this one since McCain Fiengold.

The Incumbency Protection Act, ensures that any congressional or senate candidate can not loose unless they are under indictment during the election, or are grossly outspent.

For an Incumbent to be outspent, the opponent needs to be independently wealthy. Mr. Peden is not. Yes he has loaned himself about $150,000, and family co-workers have donated another $50,000, but that is nothing compared to what Ron has. Ron has a nationwide donor base, while peden has less than 100 people that he is close associates with.

Ron has FREE* (*Taxpayer Funded) mailings to everyone in is district, that alone is worth more than Peden has raised.

From "Who Rules America" by Eric O'Keefe " In 1996, every single House Incumbent who spent under half a million dollars won; by contrast, just 3% of of challengers who spent under half a million dollars were victorious"

We just saw on LewRockwell.com that a recent poll shows Ron winning 60%-20% with 20% undecided/ not saying.

He will win in a landslide.

Paul Could Lose

The problem with Paul being on the ballot twice is that he needs to win the majority of the presidential votes in his district. The reasoning is that people who vote for Huckabee or McCain will also be more likely to vote for Peden, even if they don't know anything about him.

Aussie democracy rules!

Not knowing anything about a candidate is no bar to getting votes! In Australia, where there is compulsory voting, the first one on the ballot gets "the donkey vote"!

I think in a GOP nominee race narrowed down to only his congressional district, Paul would win.

If RP loses his house seat we will know we can never have fair elections till we drastically change the media.

For people who don't understand who owns 90+% of mass media, when they see articles like this in local papers they have read for decades, what are they supposed to think?

Dude. If Ron Paul loses the Primary, he'll fight for the seat as an independent/3rd party candidate, and that will allow him to keep running for president as well. It's win/win.

Paul's gonna lose this god damn thing... I just know it. jesus h christ.
