Hello all.

I am 17 and live in San Antonio. I will be 18, and eligible to vote, by November, but after the Texas primary in March. I had heard somewhere that you could participate in primaries underage if you would be eligible to vote in November. Is this the case? If I am allowed to participate in the primary, could I still become a delegate?

I'm a bit confused about the whole process in general.

My son is in the same boat. He will be 18 on November 2. He and I researched this. You will not be eligible to vote in the Texas Primary. You will be eligible to register to vote when you are 17 years old and 10 months. I would encourage you to register as soon as you are 17 and 10 months. That way you will be sure to get your voter registration card in before the November general election.

This link states the following:

To be eligible to register in Texas, you must:

be a U.S. citizen;
be a resident of the county;
be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months);
not a convicted felon (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law
