I authored this message to be emailed to my relatives and friends who thought Ron Paul's economic message was out of touch. We have a big fight this week and need all the help we can get to derail this Wall Street Bailout.
Dow Chemical and Dupont are in dire trouble. For years we have been making great products for the American people.
Unfortunately, there is toxic waste left over from the manufacture of these products. Now, Dow and Dupont need the help of the American people. We have made so many products that improved your life that we were not able to handle all the toxic waste. All we ask is that you, the beneficiaries of all our great work, take control of our toxic waste and pay for it. We are working so hard to better your life that we can't manage it right now. Maybe, in a few years there might be a use for this waste, and you, the American Taxpayer, can sell it, making a profit.
Would you accept this deal? I doubt it.
The Wall Street Bailout is the same deal. We are not buying bad mortgages from these financial institutions. We will buy the banks toxic “OTC (Over the Counter) Derivatives,” securities that are traded in an unregulated market, where the actual value of these instruments are highly suspect. If these were so valuable wouldn’t someone want them? China is swimming in US Dollars, but is smart enough to steer clear.
Even worse, the executives of these banks will still get their bonuses. Hank Paulson is adamant that they should still get them. Lehman Brothers is dead, but their executives are going to share a $2.5 Billion, with a "B", Bonus Package.
No one even questions the people who are putting the Bailout Package together, saying they will save Main Street and the American People from an unspeakable tragedy. These are the same people who were at the helm. They were given the job of Captaining our economic ship to avoid the rocks. They Sunk the Ship! Should we trust them now?
One last word, the Federal Reserve Bank is not a US Government entity, nor a Reserve. It is owned by the Member Banks. So do you think they are looking out for the well being of the American People or their Member Banks?
The American People better pay very close attention to what is happening in Congress this week. It will change your and your children’s lives for years to come. Usually when politicians want to pass a Bill quickly, it is because, if studied closely the Bill is not in the American Peoples’ Best Interest. Write your Congressman and Senator and tell them you do not want Wall Street's Toxic Waste.
