Would it be possible for HQ to modify the donations page on the official campaign website to make it possible to schedule donations in much the same way I schedule recurring payments on my utility bills?

I would like to be able to schedule donations, say $100.00 every friday for the next 5-6 weeks. I cant afford to commit the money all in one donation and I am afraid I will forget to donate when I have the money. I think there are a lot of people on a budget that would do the same thing.

It would also help out with money bombs if supporters could log on now, and schedule their donation for a specific date and time and just have it automatically happen. I would think that this would also relieve a lot of the stress on the website on big donation days because you could schedule your donation in advance and not crash the web server with everyone trying to get on all at once.

I really hope the campaign will consider implementing this idea. I think it will make a difference in consistent donations/cashflow and not killing the servers with moneybombs.

This is a good idea but what happens if a person is short on funds the day they schedule the donation for? It may cause complaints for money back after an overdraft.

ummm...i'm thinking you probably shouldnt schedule more than you can afford...or more than is in your budget?

You could probably set this up with your bank, if they offer online bill pay. You just enter the payee info, the amount and dates you want it paid and your bank will debit your account and cut the Ron Paul campaign a check when the time comes.

You probably could, but what if you're donating using a credit card? If utility companies can set this up it can't be that hard. I don't understand why the campaign doesnt take advantage of something that would be easy to do and that might encourage more consistent donations.

I don't use online billpay through my bank because Wells Fargo charges a monthly fee and I can pay online via my utility providers websites for free. I would assume that a lot of people do the same thing.
