answer the Campaign for Liberty's call to donate too, may the R3VOLUTION LIVE
have you gone door to door asking for donations yet?
This is a bad use of resources. I will not donate to this and I hope no one else does either. Ron Paul is not even running. You are using Ron Paul's own organization to go against him promoting a LIE or at least misinformation about his intentions. That is seriously f*cked up. YOU NEED TO MOVE ON. Stop trying to run this movement into the ground - just get on with things.
These people that you get to vote for that ticket will look at the results afterwards nationally of Ron Paul getting 0.0001% of the vote, far below the third party candidates and will think that Ron Paul/CFL will never have any chance of getting anywhere. You are setting up a massive failure that is impossible to avoid. If Ron Paul runs again in 2012, good luck getting those people on board - they will regard it as useless. You are destroying the credibility of a future Ron Paul campaign in that area. A campaign should be full force or not at all. You are wasting resources in an effort to elect someone that is not even running. What you SHOULD be doing is concentrating on CFL.
THIS IS A RIDICULOUS WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME
With that vein of thought, voting for any third party is a waste of time too.
I commented on the fake RP campaign being bad strategy and the promotion of a lie/misinformation about RP's intentions. Your wild extrapolation is non sequitur.
It encourages research, discussion and education.
That should currently be the goal of any national libertarian campaign/program.
I did not say that all candidates that are not likely to win should not be supported. The issue I took with this in regard to strategy is that it would under-represent what a real Ron Paul campaign could do. It would be like if I got into the Olympics and then walked the 100 meter dash. Have no illusions about this - you are running a fake campaign.
You are consistently avoiding the fact that you are lying/misrepresenting Ron Paul's intentions. Instead of addressing this inconvenient fact, you instead construct straw man arguments.
Look, I know you're fully entrenched in this effort now and that you are unlikely to let it go so there is not much point in debating this. I just wanted to deter other people from allocating resources in the wrong area. Donations would be doing a lot more good if they instead went to Chuck Baldwin's campaign or to some other campaign where someone is actually running for the office.
We are helping the Baldwin campaign. We are making our ad, retooled for their purpose and helping them get it on the air.
Its a pro-third party thing.
Barr didn't make our ballot. People wanted to write-in ron paul.
To give these people a legitimate ballot to vote for, we put Ron Paul on the ballot.
And note- he didn't ask us to take it off.. and the people of lake jackson have sent me thanks for putting him on.
Its not a fake campaign. Its a real campaign. We are pushing the message, but I can't put a message on a ballot. So I put the man with the message.
I can understand people writing him in if they feel they can't support anyone else but I fail to see why that justifies putting him on the ballot as though he is running and spending a lot of money promoting that rather than Baldwin.
If your real goal is supporting Baldwin's campaign then why are you spending money on airing an ad for the fake Ron Paul campaign? And yes it is fake because he is not running - that is the thing that makes it fake. It is the same as if you put Thomas Jefferson on the ballot - Thomas Jefferson is not running either so that would be a fake campaign.
If McCain does end up losing and if it is because of Ron Paul, republicans will have a strong aversion to Ron Paul in the future. This is why republicans don't run 3P unless they are permanently severing ties. If this election is really close and Obama wins solely because of this, a future Ron Paul campaign might be dead before it even began. I want Obama and McCain to get the least amount of votes possible too but a fake Ron Paul campaign is just a bad way of doing that. Did you ever think that Ron Paul might have decided against a 3P run so that he would have a better chance running in 2012? Maybe he just wanted to keep that option on the table, who knows. That would be pretty kick-ass though right?
