While McCain was winning over in South Carolina, the fine people of Nevada preferred Dr. Ron Paul. Are there any voting similarities among Republicans in Nevada and Cali?

Can anyone from that area enlighten me a bit?

Good question

It's a progressive state and has some of highest Corporate Taxes in the nation to boot.

I'm a native San Diegan and would hope they'll see the light

apples and oranges.

paul will do well in california because we can win delegates by winning congressional districts... there are 51 districts, 3 delegates each... so, even if we don't win the state -- we can win delegates.

I always think of California as the cereal state... full of flakes, fruits, and nuts. :D

I think they're more Democrat flakes than our type, but I understand that it's not winner-take-all, and there's a strategy underway I don't want to say too much about on a public forum.

I was born in San Jose, and lived in the valley, and from what I can tell, they would love voting for RP, considering my district in the valley was one of the most conservative in the state, and they kicked out the GOP Congressman for a lib for no other good reason besides the war.

Perhaps. But there is a thread on this board stating that Ron Paul did well in NV with independents and with people not aligned with any religion.

How many Republicans like this are there in Cali?

Nice!!

Are you gonna car pool with them to precincts. haha! ;)

Yeah, expect us to reap in some big delegates in CA, and still not do to well in the pop vote, go to love the distribution of republicans in that state.

What helped Ron Paul the MOST in Nevada was the lack of other GOP candidates stomping the ground. It's a shame that Romney didn't concentrate on SC, but of course he knew he wouldn't be able to beat McCain or Huckabee there, so he stole NV.

I am thinking that Paul will do about 4% to 15% in most states... AL might be another story...

Yeah we have a high potential on super tuesday since the other candidates won't be stomping around

I don't know how it was in Nevada but the Republican party changed the rules so that only registered Republicans can vote in the primary. Independents or Democrats would have to be motivated in time too change to Republican.

let me put it this way:

Nevada is the Silver State. Dr. Paul won the Silver.

California is the Golden State!

BOOOOYah!

I desperately want Paul to win in CA. People here are lazy as$es tho and even if they like RP, they are either too lazy to actually REGISTER to vote or say stuff like "he's not gonna win anyways".

Im goin to the OC swap meet to pass out flyers tomorrow and make some stickers. I think bumpers stickers r a good idea cause I hardly see *any* bumper stickers around here.. I was thinking I should have just printed a bunch of registration forms to pass out too (trust me, ppl here are really that lazy) but it's kinda too late now with Tue being the last day to register =/

So Im just gonna hope we can change or make up the minds of registered Repubs by Feb 5th..

We have a HUGE meetup group here in San Diego, almost 1000 members now.
We have done a ton of work to get the word out and even have our own mini-blimp!
San Diegans don't generally want government on their backs so we have a shot and delivering RP a lot of votes here!

California will be big for Ron Paul because of Silicon Valley and all the computer people there.. I can see many people putting up signs and paying for ads on their own in Cali, like that guy in Nevada who dished out $130,000 from his own pocket for ads

Technology and the hip = good for Ron Paul.. And don't forget the celebrity thing.. Some are coming out to endorse him.. And he looked good on Leno twice.

Unlike northern Nevada, California doesn't have a large Mormon population to contend with.

Californians also tend to be more liberal and think outside the box.

And from what I've been hearing, Paul signs are all over L.A.

So yeah, I think Paul -- with enough campaigning -- and boots on the ground (read: precinct leaders), could take Cali.

Californians are on average smarter compared to the rest of the nation, so this is a clear advantage for Dr. Paul.

True, they have a much higher IQ level.. Compared to South Carolina, who's schools consistently finish at the bottom of the nation, Califormia looks like 37 million Einsteins
