I suppose license plate data could be collected given the availability of it. but it depends on how that data was used. I don't think it can be used as evidence you were at the open carry protest. You could have loaned the car to a friend, been shopping across the street, having a picnic with the family in the park, etc... sure a "crime" was being committed in the park. but the vehicles were not involved. the cops should have approached the individuals in the protest. but we all know how that would have went.
