When you say I will eliminate the Dept of Education people hear

1) No more student loans = no more college
2) Ron Paul doesn't want to educate our children
3) This guy is a nut job
4) Insert other non-truth

If you say I want to eliminate the dept of educate...SHOW THE STATS, SHOW the COSTS, SHOW THE SAVINGS

A simple commercial that says before the dept of education students tested "X" Now after spending "Xbillions" Students are testing "Y" how is this good for your children, how is this good for you, why is the Govt telling you what your children should be educated in as Paul has said It used to be a parents responsibility to monitor teachers and schools not the governments...

Do Away with Social Security People hear
1) Ron Paul is going to make my grandparents homeless
2) He doesn't care about the eldery (who vote BTW)
3) If I lose my SS benefits I will die and be homeless

EXPLAIN that anyone recieving benefits will NOT lose them, That it was a good idea, but like many good ideas didn't work, That Americans SHOULD NOT be dependent on the Gov't, That the Money these seniors "invested" in SS would have gained them "X" more in any number of safe investments and that eliminating SS is not a matter of if, the system is Broke !! Etc etc

Do Away with the IRS...People hear
1) HOW will we survive if there is no money coming in ??
2) Its impossible, nice try NUT JOB
3) Yeah and everyone is going to get a free pony too

EXPLAIN that we are giving 50% of our pay to a government and getting almost NOTHING in return, the more we pay the more they spend, would you give 50% of your PAY to ANYONE and expect nothing back ???

When my husband and I talk with people, they automatically think that Dr. Paul will just end these things with really nothing to back it up. All they hear is the word eliminate and their minds just go fuzzy.

Along with the above suggestions, I would also suggest that Dr. Paul give some details. Don't just think that the majority of those listening will understand.

When he says he wants to eliminate the DOE, try something along the lines of eliminating the FEDERAL DOE and returning it back to the states. Explain how it could happen. Give more of a strategy plan.

This way you aren't leaving the average American to dream up the worst, instead taking their imagination where it needs to go.
