Today, I filed House Bill 1037 to abolish the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (ETF) and transfer all remaining unencumbered funds to the Department of Public Safety’s Border Security Operations.

Emerging technological companies do not need extra incentives to invest in Texas. Its freedom to innovate, diverse and talented people, low taxes, and level playing field are plenty of incentive to come.
Many Texans have been calling to end this redistribution of taxpayers’ hard-earned money. Corporate welfare schemes, though well intended, can easily be abused by politicians and crony capitalists that prey on them. It is not the Texas way. Getting government out of the way of freedom is!
I am grateful Governor Abbott announced his support for eliminating the ETF.
