Without ever actually insulting Dr. Paul, this Dallas Morning News piece refers to Dr. Paul's as a "nutcase", "wacko" (three times), say he is "viewed as a bit of a flake" and that his Constitutional principles are "iconoclastic ideas" and "ideologue disengaged".

A more detailed analysis:
This piece fails to mention that his ideas are based on the law of the US Constitution.Even in his Gulf Coast district, many Republicans have never been comfortable with his iconoclastic ideas
Guiliani's campaign response was a non sequitur, they failed to address the issue of Rudy Guiliani's understanding of our foreign policy which has nothing to do with where he was on 9/11. This piece did not point this out.Responding, the Giuliani campaign said Dr. Paul's claims were reckless and that to "declare Rudy Giuliani needs to be educated on September 11th when millions of people around the world saw him dealing with these terrorist attacks firsthand is just as absurd."
Referring to others using name calling is a typical passive yellow-journalism technique to have the reader marginalize the person being called the name. The piece offers no supporting reasons. The Lake Jackson resident is unfazed by the fact he's viewed as a bit of a flake.
The article fails to mention these are all based on Constitutional principles.though longtime backers know him for a litany of other issues – from returning to the gold standard to ending military commitments to defending Taiwan to scrapping the CIA, Education Department, Social Security and other programs.
By citing a negative reference they imply that some do consider Dr. Paul a "wacko" and offer no support for that claim. Again, referring to others using name calling is a typical passive yellow-journalism technique to have the reader marginalize the person being called the name."I don't consider him a wacko," Mr. Neves added,
This piece is presenting Mr. Neves as an expert on these issues and attempt to discredit Dr. Paul's positions with sound bites and no supporting facts. Dr. Paul's positions should be studied in detail for one to make their own conclusions. An example:but "I've heard his take on the gold standard and the Federal Reserve. ... You can see that's not going to fly."

More ad hominem attacks. My former boss looked like a complete nutcase. ...
Dr. Paul's response was based on deep study of the CIA based on the blowback principle and on the 9/11 Commission Report:He was completely unprepared for Giuliani's romping response," Eric Dondero wrote on Redstate.com, a conservative Web site.

More ad hominem attacks.Chris Peden, a Republican council member in Friendswood, announced a challenge Thursday. He portrays the incumbent as an ideologue disengaged from ordinary legislative business,
This piece fails to address that the Constitution does not authorize such use of citizens money. This statement could highlight Dr. Paul's integrity as well as the integrity of the people in his district who aren't interested in pork barrel projects just because they are in their district, instead it spins it against Dr. Paul.he failed to support funding boosts for NASA, one of the area's biggest employers.
It would appear Mr. Peden is trying to paint Dr. Paul as a big government hypocrite. An examination of Dr. Pauls congressional record shows he is anything but. This should explain Dr. Paul's position:"Tell me a tax break he's created, a program that he has helped to make smaller," Mr. Peden said.

Again, more references to others name calling, here calling Dr. Paul's Constitutional positions "wacko" without supportive facts, an ad hominem attack."I don't think he is personally wacko. He's a really nice guy. ...You can say that his opinions are wacko."
