There was a PPP poll recently that placed Romney head-to-head against Obama and included various additional Independent/3rd party candidates (which, frankly, is a more realistic picture of the general election).
Even if Dr. Paul doesn't run as an Independent, it didn't look good for Romney (lost in virtually all cases - especially when Johnson was included, which is a near certainty). However, I'm curious how the same type of poll might look with Dr. Paul as the Republican candidate and including all the additional candidates as well.
This could more realistically answer the question of electability and might possibly show that Ron Paul actually has a better shot of beating Obama when Romney when considering other candidates. Imagine if we could change (even if just slightly shift) the mindset of "electable/can beat Obama".
Edit: Found the article describing this poll, some conclusions to draw, and some recommendations.
