Chris Christie's bad gun record

NJ Governor Chris Christie has a record on guns that would make Barack Obama blush. Probably even a little jealous.

As Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie:

*** Orchestrated a RELENTLESS campaign to pass anti-gun laws in New Jersey;

*** Supported requiring a government issued-ID for every firearms purchase, setting up a state wide firearms registry of guns and gun owners;

*** Proposed the banning of 50 caliber rifles used by hunters nationwide;

*** Supported requiring gun dealers to make their records “open to inspection” for any reason to the state police – already notorious for their harassment of gun owners.

But that’s just the tip of the ice berg.

While running for the State Assembly, Chris Christie bragged about his support of banning so-called “assault weapons.”

Instructive, but I'd be surprised if this fat tub of lard makes it past Florida. He's got Rudy Giuliani 2008 written all over him.

Yes, he may not be uber conservative but he a jolly fella and liberals will vote for him. That makes him the most electable and electability means a lot to the GOP voters.

Chris Christie's bad gun record = lots of votes. Don't underestimate the amount of sissies that are afraid of just hearing the word gun.
And lol anti-gun legislation. I want to know what he banned because I thought basically everything was already banned in NJ. The only thing we can defend ourselves with legally are bows and arrows

In New Jersey and New York maybe, but this assumes that those states won't go for a blue blood like Bush. Christie's gun views will not work for him in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina or Florida, and anyone who doesn't make a serious play for any of those states comes in with a MASSIVE disadvantage. Again, Christie's politics are all but identical to Giuliani's, and I'm sure plenty of people in the Mid-Atlantic area and New England expected what you are talking about right now.

Most NJ laws have been there quite some time. There have been a few he vetoed. Has a scary bunch of state rep. that want to make it worse in NJ. NJ is probably the worst state for freedom. Sitting ducks here. Noone allowed CCP. Need to prove need. No one qualifies but the official stance is that permits issued and even to out of state people! I truly do not know how NJ laws are constitutional.

Under Heller, they are not, but it will take someone taking it to the SCROTUS to prove the point.

There was a case just recently and SC refused to hear it. Sickening in NJ. Antique flintlock treated like modern Glock! Recently a retired teacher had an issue with one from the time of our Revolution. Funny how the very cradle of Liberty states are the least free.

Concentrated populations of people who have never lived under any system but tyranny landing in major cities in said states has a way of changing things.
