I was informed today that the American Community Survey appears to be something that doesn't stop. I've have the ACS form and read the intrusive questions it asks.

I was enlightened (by a credible source) that people who didn't fill out their surveys where basically stalked to try and find out when the person is home and who they are. DMV records were used to find who owns the vehicle parked at the address as well as any public information.
Apparently non compliance is punishable by law (U.S Code Title 13 Sec. 9, 141, 193, 214 and 221; Title 44 Sec 2108.

Apparently there was some issue a while back where the ranch owned by the Reagan's was not complying with allowing Census workers entry. Ultimately law enforcement was called.

Where is the line drawn short of LEO's kicking down your door, putting a glock to your head and demanding you will comply?

I guess the Government is very adamant about proper congressional representation according to the population;)

The Government threatens compliance to justify a reason to steal from one to give to another. I don't believe actual enforcement of non compliance is high, but I am not privy to the federal court's schedule.

I'll keep this forum updated...

The census is a Constitutional requirement. It is acceptable that it should be enforced to some degree, as it is one of the enumerated powers in the Constitution. Now other than name, citizenship status and address, the remainder is bullshit that should be stricken from the form.

No, just number of people is good enough.
Name and so forth doesn't help change the Congressional representation of the states and so is not needed.

While in principle that might be the best solution, that can never be a functional reality. You still need accountability and proof, and that requires some form of identification. If you had a system based entirely on just numbers, you place infinite trust in the bureaucrat that tallies those numbers with absolutely no recourse or proof. With the corruption they are already mired in, you can appreciate the consequence of giving them unlimited authority on this issue. All of a sudden the party or political group in power during the census has a population surge and entrenches itself for the indefinite future. Then all of a sudden people of certain political persuasions, races, or other group identification seem to be perpetually underrepresented... where have we seen this before?

You think they could arrest all the illegal immigrants while they are doing all this crap? Hmm, doubt it.

In this state? no way. The LAPD doesn't even enforce immigration laws.

There is a good point about some sort of check to prevent fraudulent numbers. Well there isn't 99.9% compliance with the Census anyway.

The Census should be just a few questions:
How many people live here that are over 18*?

How many people who live here will turn 18 before the next Census?

Does anyone in this household live anywhere else or are they expected to return before the next Census? (hospital, vacation, school, etc) Please describe.

U.S Citizens, not illegal immigrants, temporary residents and "sovereign" state residents/nationals (whatever you liberty lovers want to call yourselves).
There is useful/interesting data in the Census for demographic reasons, but obvious a lot is to justify bloated government.

There is accountability in government but no ones feet are being held to the fire, they create unlimited authority. Too many people have become complacent and indoctrinated to do as we are told. I am bothered and disgusted by how many federal employees swear to uphold the Constitution and don't read the document or at least try to interpret it themselves.

This has good film potential. Someone should build a fort house and refuse to comply with the census. Then make a documentary of the census police attempting to break in.
