Really good article. A bit:

Brody File observations:

1. Can we please put to bed this idea that Ron Paul doesn’t appeal to evangelical Christians? Yes, I know his ideas on foreign policy and Israel are a problem for many evangelicals. I get that. But what he is saying on the economy and issues of liberty fit in perfectly with how evangelicals see the world. My goodness. Dr. Paul has arrived. He has FINALLY won the Values Voter Summit poll. Go ahead and talk about how he bussed people in but the truth of the matter is Ron Paul is having the last laugh. Will he win the presidency? His isolationist foreign policy is a major obstacle so he always will have a hard time overcoming that yet philosophically Ron Paul has changed the Republican Party in ways many others have not.

Well, it started out good.

I have a feeling more people are gonna be coming around to Ron Paul's foreign policy ideas when the whole global economy collapses.

And screw Herman Cain.

Hey, so it's not perfect. Still, David Brody is legitimizing this win and he's right.

Regarding Cain:

"In addition, he is someone that is not off the reservation at all (unlike Ron Paul) when it comes to mainstream traditional GOP ideals."

This and the incorrect use of isolationist AGAIN makes this article suck.

Yeah, it's ok. He's saying there is still work to be done. We know that, ourselves. The off the reservation bit was sheer name calling, though.

His isolationist foreign policy...

Non-Interventionist, goomba-head, non-interventionist.

Shows so much ignorance when they mis-represent.

2007: No one is mentioning Ron Paul!

2011: They are mentioning Ron Paul all over the place, but not to my liking!

:p

Has anyone tried sending him a kindly-worded and sourced email to see if he will correct the offending portions of his article, and simultaneously thanking him for mentioning a Paul win and giving it consideration when so many other media outlets and blogs have not?

* * *

ETA: I just did. :)

Hopefully there is a change to this article shortly.

Melissa,
Great points! I will clarify my analysis. Thanks for pointing that out. Congratulations on today's straw poll victory!

Blessings,

David

Good afternoon!

First, let me begin with the reason I saw your article at all. Being disillusioned with the lack of coverage surrounding Ron Paul's VVS 2011 win, I eagerly searched for anything approaching a balanced analysis of the outcome. I was incredibly heartened to find yours!

You are likely going to get more... direct?... emails regarding this, but you do have a couple of slight errors when it comes to Dr. Paul's policies. His policy is non-interventionalist, and not isolationalist. There is a marked difference between the two philosophies. The former includes a great deal of diplomacy, and does not eliminate the possibilities of trade interests, or other foreign interaction. The latter insinuates that the US should simply lock its doors and stay home, keeping away from any other nation, lest something go wrong. What Ron Paul would like to do is go back to a more Constitutional foreign policy, which requires that wars be delcared and approved, and that Letters of Marque and Reprisal be made use of. He is strong on defense, but believes (as I do) that our defense is not well-served by having troops in so many nations, usually angering the local people. If we are to defend ourselves, we must do so at home. Any game of skill will teach you the same thing. If your pieces are far-flung in chess, or football, you will be crushed when the baddies come calling.

There is also a line about Ron Paul being "off the reservation." I do not think that is a fair characterization. It's obviously up to you, since the whole article contains a number of these cheeky references directed at candidates, but I think it minimizes the wonderful observations you make throughout.

Thank you for reading this, and I hope to see a minor correction to the article in the future :)

Sincerely,

While I wasn't crazy about Mr. Brody's letter it's quite an improvement over the coverage he gave right after the Iowa Straw Poll. As a guest on Fox that evening and then w his CBN blog I don't recall him giving one mention of Paul and his success in Ames.

I apparently have given out too much rep, but that was terrific!

I got her! Can't wait to see what he says!

Edit: Also note NO Hate filled E-mails PLEASE! We can't win with hot headed off the handle angry E-mails. We must educate and be respectful. When we go off the handle about things it only makes us and Ron Paul look bad.

ATTN EVERYONE. This is how it's done. Bravo.

I wish we could sticky this comment and post it to the main page.

THEY are coming around. Perkins can make all the excuses he wants but Paul's support is real. Straw Polls are about seeing who has the best organization and who can sustain it.
