Just saw this commercial:

Looks like a scam, but the idea of statists forcing us to convert to something like this doesn't seem too outlandish.

I looked into pre-paid cards and the fees for them are prohibitive. I had hoped to use them for budgeting by just putting a weekly or daily amount on them to be used. But the fees suck. I ended up opening a second checking account at my bank and having a weekly transfer into that account that I used for spending. No fees.

No one is being "forced" to do anything.

However, like all prepaid cards, the costs on this one are high.

Basically, these things are only for people who have so poorly mismanaged their finances that they can't get a debit card of a regular credit card.
