If you were to rank the 2016 candidates from a libertarian perspective, I think this is how it would go:

A} Liberty Tier (These candidates are the closest to Ron Paul. Liberty will thrive and grow under their care)

1) Rand Paul (R)
2) Gary Johnson (L)

B} Acceptable Tier (Although not aligned with the ideals of Liberty, their policies will move us in that direction)

3) Donald Trump (R)
4) *Ted Cruz (R)
5) Ben Carson (R)
6) *Mike Huckabee (R)
7) *Rick Santorum (R)

C} Moderate Tier (Not much will change. The country will keep marching along the way it has been)

8) Chris Christie (R)
9) *Carly Fiorina (R)
10) *Bobby Jindal (R)
11) *George Pataki (R)
12) *John Kasich (R)

D} Establishment Tier (These candidates have ulterior motives, and will actively move the country in the wrong direction)

13) *Marco Rubio (R)
14) *Jeb Bush (R)
15) *Hillary Clinton (D)

F} Disastrous Tier (These candidates will likely destroy the nation. Large chance of a major catastrophe such as WW3)

16) *Lindsey Graham (R)
17) Bernie Sanders (D)

Pretty much this.

Santorum and Huckabee, acceptable? And Gary Johnson is a joke. I wish I could take my vote back. I would never, ever vote for that moron again, for anything. He's a selfish prick just like the Lew wing of the liberty movement. They have no desire to change anything for the better.

Listening to their rhetoric, I liked them. Their policies, as represented, would certainly move us towards smaller government. That's why I put them there. However I'm no fool, I'm aware they are snake-in-the-grass liars. That's why I added the asterisks.

Exactly this.

Even if you honestly believed Santorum was decent, he's been proven corrupt to the core like most politicians. Huckabee seems to favor exercising big government to support his social beliefs and Ted Cruz is an all around snake. He would give libertarians a bad name (Ted Cruz is not a libertarian, but future smears will paint him as one, destroying any chance for a real liberty-minded candidate to get elected).

Ben Carson has proven he hasn't a clue on a variety of issues like foreign policies. Without a doubt, his closest advisers will take advantage of him to push their own personal agendas and line their wallets.

Trump just leads to the world ending, so if you want to get a fresh start, maybe this makes sense.

I could vote for any of the GOP candidates except for that jackass Trump against Hillary. I don't necessarily like them all but I HATE the Clintons with the fury of a thousand suns. The Clintons are so dirty they make the Underwoods look clean.

Hillary and Trump I would vote 3rd party.

I could live with any candidate from either party as potus except Hillary and Trump.

If the unlikely happened and it was Trump and Sanders, I'd go Sanders.

What do you think of this list? What does your list look like?

How do the candidates that support shooting Russian planes out of the sky not make the "Disastrous Tier", the ones you list as "Large chance of a major catastrophe such as WW3". Since that is exactly what that would do.
