Trump Now Leading Among Crucial ‘Republicans Who Hate Trump’ Demographic

A few weeks ago, Republican strategist Alex Castellanos was trying to lead a movement by Republicans to stop Donald Trump from capturing the party's nomination. Castellanos's plan was to fund millions of dollars in ads portraying Trump — not unfairly, we might add! — as a "strongman" who would lead Republicans into oblivion. But, well, times change. Nobody wanted to go along with Castellanos's plan, Trump won a bunch of states, and now Castellanos is telling his party to pack it in:

" They should have stood up for the change Donald Trump is bringing now but they didn’t.

Now, Trump has earned the nomination. He won it, fair and square and we should respect that. Donald Trump whipped the establishment and it is too late for the limp GOP establishment to ask their mommy to step in and rewrite the rules because they were humiliated for their impotence.

If Trump is going to be our nominee, as I believe he is, it is our mission to support Trump and make him the best nominee and president possible."

If you can't imagine Marco Rubio raising hands with Trump this July in Cleveland, just bear in mind that the attempted ringleader of a countercoup to stop Trump basically just endorsed him.

It's like half of the GOP has totally lost their minds. I can't begin to understand how this happened. I understood the draw Romney, McCain and even the Bushes had, I didn't agree with some of their positions but I could understand how they drew in voters. I'm at a loss as to how anyone could vote for Trump.

I couldnt ever understand how anybody could ever vote for any of those other ones

GOP strategist Castellanos: Time to rally around Trump, ‘too late to ask mommy to step in and rewrite rules’

Even as major Republican donors coalesced Wednesday around a last-ditch effort to halt Donald Trump's march toward the GOP presidential nomination, resignation was setting in among some onetime Trump critics.

"It is too late," Republican media strategist Alex Castellanos, who had unsuccessfully urged top GOP contributors to back an anti-Trump campaign earlier in the cycle, wrote in an email. "There is a fantasy effort to stop Trump, like a fantasy campaign to stop yesterday but it exists only as the denial stage of grief."

He went on:

"If our self-indulgent Republican party establishment had really wanted to prevent a takeover of the GOP, they should not have gorged on political power while they failed to do anything to prevent the decline of the country. Our leaders could have led. They could have done more than say 'no' to Democrats while offering no alternative.

"They should have stood up for the change Donald Trump is bringing now but they didn’t.

Castellanos, who said he has no interest working for the real estate mogul's campaign, said the reality of Trump's momentum is setting in across the party.

"I think it will soon be clear that Republicans have hired Donald Trump to do the job their previous hires have failed to do: bring change to Washington and make America great again," he wrote.

That seals it. And so much for the nevertrump crowd giving the election to Hillary. I knew they were bluffing.

I dunno. There are a few factions. The hardcore neocons will never concede to Trump. He is their mortal enemy for his comments on Putin and in regard to Israel.

A handful will stick to their guns, but the overwhelming majority of the GOP will fall in line for team red.

Their minions won't amount to more than what Trump will bring in as far as new voters go, hopefully the truly hardcore Neocons will take a hint and go back to the Democratic Party, where they belong. I'm not thrilled at this outcome myself, but the writing is clearly on the wall here, and sooner or later people will have to figure a way to work around Trump or to bide their time until after this wave finally crashes onto the shore.

Castellanos is just the beginning, watch for others that are only partially Neocon leaning to come to their senses within the next couple weeks. After Rubio and Kasich lose their home states and Trump mops up a couple more southern states like Kentucky and Louisiana that Cruz would need to win, that'll be the end of it. Truth be told, Cruz needed to win states like Georgia and Alabama, and the fact that he just got trounced there by Trump all but seals it.

Because Trump is America's middle finger to corrupt politicians who have bestowed fascism upon America.

These are the times that try men's souls. Trump better hit that 1237 mark or we're going to get fucked as usual. If there is a brokered convention, I bet they will deliver to Trump a dossier on who the VP will be and the approved personnel that his cabinet will be composed of.

One thing's for sure, we have interesting times ahead. He's sure to either piss us off or make us cheer. Probably both.

That's all they do is bluff. Their platform is a bluff. Trump is just bluffing on a higher level.

They will change their tune and people will forget. Trump will change his tune and people will forget.

And let's not forget that Ron/Rand only ran on GOP because of lack of options. They/we were/are bluffing too. I'm registered Republican only for Ron/Rand. They are wolves in sheeps clothing, we are sheeps in wolves clothing, in sheeps clothing.

Problem is this cycle, there was a professional poker player in the room and we all got Trumped.

That's throwing the baby out with the bathwater. They think something is wrong in DC so they want to put an asshole like Trump in DC? Makes no sense at all.

All you have to do is talk to the average Trump supporter to understand that "making sense" is not at the top of their priority list. Getting pissed off and venting rarely involves rationality, my only concern is whether or not we can make any hay out of this or not.

Oh wow. You really believe that?

I'd say it's Americans bending over saying "thank you sir, can you give it to me harder?!"

But that's not how they perceive Trump. They view him as an outsider who is not bought and paid for. Same reason Sanders is so popular. Plus they truly believe he will bring jobs back to America - "Make America Great Again™"
