(It's 12:43 AM ET, let's see how many minutes until SA changes the thread title.)

Typical New England assholes, the police state mentality up there has sure kept them immune to crime hasn't it?

Comment section is very favorable to the good Doctor.
A good one:

Wow, so in your eyes a manhunt for 19 year old kid, with no military training whatsoever, who may have only been armed with a single 9mm, justifies: - spending $333,000,000 (!!! That's the estimate I heard on Channel 7 the day of this debacle - I'm sure it's higher now) - 10,000 law enforcement agents from hundreds of miles away - FBI, Homeland Security, BATFE, and DEA (DEA?!?! - yes believe it or not I saw a DEA officer with an assault weapon onsite!) to be deployed with armored vehicles (MRAPS and Hummers) into what is a normally quiet neighborhood. - Dozens of weekend warriors with AR15s that they were constantly pointing at obviously innocent civilians, muzzle sweeping them for absolutely no reason. That is when they didn't have their hands in their pockets (I counted at least 3 guys in full assault vests with their hands literally in their pockets while watching the TV coverage) - Forcing dozens of residents out of their homes, again at gunpoint even though it was obvious none of them fit the description of the kid, in total violation of the 4th amendment. My guess is so that they could unload their magazines without worrying about killing any innocent civilians. - Literally HUNDREDS of rounds fired unnecessarily in a residential neighborhood, despite the fact that, again, this was a 19 year old kid with no military training and it turned out he was barely even armed. Are you freakin' kidding me? You're trying to say this was all justified?!? Personally I agree 100% with Ron and Rand Paul - Watertown PD and SWAT and maybe Cambridge SWAT, with a EOD tech from Boston on standby could have given us the same outcome and $332,999,000 in change. There was absolutely NO justification for such a dramatic over-reaction, and based on what I saw, I'd love to see the budget for the DEA, BATFE and homeland security cut severely based on their lack of performance. When you bring out that much force and yet your suspect gets located by an observant CIVILIAN and the FLIR on an Mass State Police helicopter, then that tells me we would be MUCH safer without all of these assault weapon-wielding paramilitary forces, and instead we should just use local and state police and maybe deputize some locals who would be a little less likely to shoot up the whole neighborhood!! Having paramilitary police running around with automatic assault weapons and tax-payer purchased ammunition in a residential neighborhood is a recipe for disaster and there are hundreds of bullet holes in that neighborhood to attest to that fact. People from the neighborhood with tactical carbine and CQB training taken at their local gun club (very often the exact same training SWAT gets) would have been *much* more careful about shooting up their own neighborhood, because they would have to face their neighbors the next day and explain why they were blasting away! I'm sure there are people out there who are completely unfamiliar with firearms and tactics, without any tactical training whatsoever, who watched that whole circus unfold and thought all that nonsense was necessary, but there's no way you're going to convince me this couldn't have been handled by local and state PD. Other than establishing a perimeter around the site, which could have been done by local PD, all of those federal agents did was walk around in circles - a waste of money and completely unnecessary. The worse part is that now they will use this debacle to justify even higher budgets!

A bunch of political correctness that is no longer palatable to the people. I know because I have seen similar posts where people are going no I'm not falling for this something is wrong with this picture. PC is no longer PC anymore like it once was. The government is worried that's why their buying up bullets and tanks they know, they watch the people. We know, I know, from talking to the public out there. The walls are coming down. This country is about to be reborn.

I added this comment:

Once again, the Pauls - and Ron especially - have it right. Bostonians of our rich and noble past would no doubt be embarrassed that today's citizens meekly accept having their rights trampled on. Rights that so many of our ancestors fought and even died to gain for us. Yes, what happened at the marathon was a tragedy, but this gross over-reaction by law enforcement and the spinelessness of the public merely serve to make the tragedy even moreso. And in the end who found the boy hiding in the boat? Not law enforcement, who were too busy threatening innocent citizens with their assault rifles.

The author of the article would probably do well for himself to just move to China and demand more invasive and intrusive govt there. Probably go over just as well with them as anti Ron Paul comments here. Just because Liberty is dead for him doesnt mean its dead for the rest of us.

Could someone make the Boston Herald go away?
Howie Carr, a writer for them and local 'conservative' talk host, filled in for Levin last night and he was pumping the NRO piece on Cruz 2016 while dismissing Rand by name and no others. Sent him a nice coherent email on what will happen if the right wing hosts start playing that game, people will end up turning on Cruz through no fault of his own.

PFFFT. What do you know!? I'm a purebred New Englander! Our crime and murder rates are the lowest (look at Hartford CT!), the abundant welfare programs have nearly eliminated poverty and our taxes are the lowest in the land (so what if we have to pay car taxes every year, that's just...whatever!) With all the taxes spent on education (since the conception of our benevolent pro government programs in the 70's) our inner-city education problem is completely eliminated and we have the highest scores around the globe! So what if it took nearly half a century! And we have the most pro freedom representatives, just look at the caring nature of NY/Bloomberg! Oh and Obamya baby! Woo Woo Woo Woo!

someone inside the mainstream GOP that just went 100% bugnuts over john mccain an'
mitt romney has made the decision to promote sen. cruz as a counter to sen. rubio...

deep down they also know barry goldwater got the nomination in 1964 and that ronnie
reagan won by a landslide in 1980. i think they KNOW rand paul is a major contender...

Howie Carr is a serial asshole who's only concern is his own ratings. Fortunately, Michael Graham (the other big conservative radio host in Mass) is pretty friendly to Rand.

I don't have a problem showing how whiny they are. But why you think it is heroic to post intentionally bad thread titles is between you and your conscience.

What's bad about the thread title?

Or has it already been changed?

this one wasn't changed, but he has a habit of posting bad thread titles, churning forum disputes or pushing anti-Paul (either Paul) MSM memes.

I don't think he is the normal sort of troll, and have said so when the topic came up, but I think his .... whatever... sense of humor? Is destructive plenty of times.

You can't claim Obama. He's a Chicago/Great Lakes liberal. They're like New England liberals, only their cities are dumpier and poorer. (a few examples, Cleveland and Detroit)

I've been thinking about that for a while but . . .

Are we sure that if people are going to stumble across a bad title, would we rather it direct them here to Ron Paul Forums or the MSM site? At least here they can start reading the comments, whereas they find it on a "news" site or something and think, "okay well this must be true. I knew there was something I didn't like about Ron Paul."

Of course, our comments here don't always represent the best of us (myself included).

Occasionally it makes sense to keep it, but often the source has less traffic than we do, or our own activity pushes it up in a Paul search on google. It isn't the TOPIC typically, but the fact that it creates its own 'headline' in google search that is the issue, for all those who DON'T even click it but leave their search with an 'impression' that it is true. Since we discuss our own candidates so much, our stuff is often HIGHER in a search on our candidates than anyone else's.

New England has the lowest crime of any region in the US, I think. Well, more specifically, Northern New England certainly has the lowest crime in the US. But it has the least restrictive gun laws and is close to the least urban and a few other things so I'm not sure why the crime is so incredibly low around here.

And they tend to be a lot less liberal on social issues in that area. New England liberals want to legalize pot in very large numbers and are working hard to do that. Same thing with same sex government marriage and some civil liberties issues.

To be fair, when I think 'New England assholes' I'm thinking states like Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and southern New York.
