Blimp Weather Challenges (Must Read)

There is a major Nor'easter heading for Boston on the 16th...could be rain/snow/sleet, and guaranteed to be very strong winds.

Everyone needs to understand that the blimp cannot take snow/ice like an aircraft can even if it's just sitting on the ground, and certainly not what a Nor'easter could bring. The added weight of just a couple inches of snow would cripple the cabin and the blimp. Then OUR collective $260K that has been raised WILL BE a deflated mess.

Now I suggest those who are enraged about the possibility of it not getting to Boston to find their logical brains and understand this point. This project from the get-go has been to get Ron Paul as much additional media exposure as possible. Don't be surprised if the blimp doesn't make it to Boston based solely on the weather...HOWEVER, if it doesn't make it there, expect to see the blimp flying on TV that day (somewhere) in conjunction with a rainy/snowy/sleet-filled Tea Party for those rockin' the rEVOLution in Boston. Stay tuned...there is an update forthcoming.

Safety is my #1 concern. Period.

I trust that the people who are running this project, along with the owner/operator, will make the most logical and safest decisions possible to ensure that the blimp flies and no one is put in harms way due to the weather or any other factor that might lessen the safety of the passengers or the crew.

It is also in that trust, that I have in them, that they will plan a flight path that can achieve the goals listed above, and at the same time, display our message to as many people as possible with the time that they have.

God Speed Blimp Team!!!!

Exactly. Folks may be disappointed, but safety for all involved in priority number ONE! Besides, what better way to spend a snowy day than to sit inside with a hot chocolate, spiked with a little peppermint, donating the day away; watching that thermometer climb to TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS! A blimp high in the sunny skies of South Carolina might give Dr. Paul a nice bump in their polls before the blimp heads north. Every cloud has...well, you know...:)

We all need to trust the pilots, they call the shots in the end. But as for the supporters...a nice winter storm will make tea party very authentic...

The blimp needs to be in Boston for the Tea Party, period.

At what cost? Nose-diving into the Boston Harbor as it gets Nor'eastered? I'm in Boston helping to organize the Tea Party and I was hoping for the blimp with all my heart, but at least I'm realistic. If it can't make it, it can't make it. I'm not going to blame the people working on this project.

The pilot has the final say and responsibility for the safety of his crew, passengers and the ship.

There's nothing you can say that will, could, or should change that.

It'll be there if it's safe to do so.

Fly it over (or, close to and within sight of) NYC where all the major broadcast stations can see it and marvel at its awesomeness!

Fly the Blimp over Charleston Harbor S.C. (Fort sumpter, the Battery) On the way, go by and through Myrtle beach..........no sweat! CALL THE SOUTHERN AVENGER to set-up coverage!

If the blimp is not in the air for the Boston Tea Party it will NEVER have a chance to gain as much media attention.

That's half the fun of the blimp. It's unpredictable and on a mission from God.
